Dolores Fuller Died

Dolores Fuller, the onetime actress-girlfriend of cross-dressing schlock movie director Ed Wood who co-starred with Wood in his low-budget 1950s cult classic "Glen or Glenda," has died. She was 88.

Fuller, whose show business career included writing the lyrics to a dozen Elvis Presley movie songs, died Monday at her home in Las Vegas after a long illness, said her stepdaughter, Susan Chamberlin.

A friendship with producer Hal Wallis led to her co-writing (with composer Ben Weisman) "Rock-a-Hula Baby" for Presley's 1961 movie "Blue Hawaii." She went on to co-write eleven other songs for Presley movies such as "Kid Galahad," "It Happened at the World's Fair," "Fun in Acapulco" and "Spinout." Elvis recorded a 12th Fuller song writing collaboration in 1970 with "Cindy, Cindy".

Here is a complete list of Fuller songs recorded by Elvis:
  • Steppin' Out Of Line (1961)
  • Rock-A-Hula Baby (1961)
  • I Got Lucky (1961)
  • Beyond The Bend (1962)
  • You Can't Say No In Acapulco (1963)
  • Barefoot Ballad (1963)
  • Big Love Big Heartache (1964)
  • Do The Clam (1964)
  • Spinout (1966)
  • I'll Take Love (1966)
  • Have A Happy (1969)
  • Cindy Cindy (1970)
Flood

While the city of Memphis was partly flooded due to the rising of the Mississippi River, EPE announced that the water is not a threat to Elvis Presley's Graceland. Sun Studio, where Presley made some of his recordings, as did Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis, also escaped the flood.

Elvis Business Drops 22% drop In Revenue

CKX reported Monday that its revenue in the first quarter dropped 20% to $53 million, but operating income rose to $9 million compared with a $3 million loss a year ago. American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance are bringing in the cash for CKX. Elvis Presley and Muhammad Ali? Not so much.

CKX owns rights to the names, images and likenesses of Ali and Presley as well as to the operations of Graceland. The Presley business showed a 22% drop in revenue to $10 million and an operating loss of $400,000 compared with a loss of $1.2 million last year. CKX blamed the falling revenue on the closing of the Elvis in Concert series in Europe.
