September 02 - Study of a Raging Tiger

The Gravel Road import record label announced the October 2025 release of a 2-LP edition of 'A Study of Elvis Presley's In Concert'.

Publicity stated: After the tremendous success of our first vinyl release, 'The Return of a Prodigy,' which we presented in our 'Elvis 1969' box set, we received many requests to "please, release 'A Study of Elvis Presley's 'In Concert' on vinyl." Since 'For God and Country' (Hawaii 1961) is still being worked on, and we've already completed the vinyl mastering for 'In Concert,' we are able to surprise you with this fantastic release and even have some really great extras: a large poster of the October 3, 1977, CBS announcement in color and two faithful reproductions of the backstage badges from the tours.

Gravel Road Music is very pleased to offer you the soundtrack of our book 'A Study of Elvis Presley's In Concert' on vinyl. These records are of the highest quality clear vinyl. Weighing 180 grams, the excellent finish features a very glossy surface. Everything is housed in a full color gatefold sleeve with extra printed inner sleeves and Japanese anti-static inner covers to protect the vinyl.

Our version is without the fan comments and with the addition of the previously missing, impressive 'Unchained Melody'. All done with the same technique as in 1977. Also, the set list has been re-arranged to have a correct set list of Omaha with some extra songs from Rapid City in the right spot. We strive for the best quality and affordability within those limits. We won't compromise on quality. That's our promise.

Since we're known to do something extra at times, we included a large poster of the October 3, 1977, CBS announcement in color. And, as if it wasn't special enough, we've made reproductions of all the backstage badges, like the ones you see the Memphis Mafia wearing on their jackets - "IN CONCERT ELVIS BUILDING PERSONNEL" - and even on Elvis' private briefcase. They are made of the same textile material and are 100% true to the originals.

We've tried to use all the known colors - 17 badges in total - of which two random colors are included in 'A Study of Elvis Presley's 'In Concert' LP set. We've made all the known 11 round sticker badges, as well as the six rectangular ones.

Because they're so special, we're giving dealers the opportunity to offer them all separately or as a set. Note that these additional badges are not included in the LP set, just a cool extra if you want them). The colors in the LP sets are random. Ask your dealer for the complete set of 17 badges.

Note: If for any reason another color should surface, we will add it to the existing ones to keep the collection up to date. We think we have them all, but you'll never know.

The Raging Tiger

The U.K.-based Memphis Recording Service announced the November 21, 2025 release of the double CD and LP 'The Raging Tiger - Closing Night 1974'. As usual, the LP will be available on black and on clear vinyl.

Publicity stated: The U.K.-based ‘Memphis Recording Service’ (MRS) label continues its 20-year anniversary (2005-2025) with ‘Las Vegas - The Raging Tiger - Closing Night 1974’ release as a 2-CD Deluxe-set and 2-LP gatefold in both black and clear vinyl.

The set features one of Elvis’ most controversial performances recorded during his closing night at the Las Vegas Hilton, on the 2nd of September 1974.

Although the show was strong and well performed, at various points throughout, Elvis frequently broke off to ramble about unrelated topics displaying unprofessional and inappropriate behaviour, that included some explosive outbursts and angry out-of-character threats.

This important performance has never been officially released and now for the first time ever the original recording has been remastered and mixed into stereo.
Click for high-res pic. The accompanying booklet features rare photographs and memorabilia from the event and also includes liner notes that set the scene.

The 2-LP sets and will be available in both black and clear vinyl.
As usual, the clear vinyl is only available from exclusive Elvis dealers and fan clubs.

This was an incredibly emotional show for Elvis at the end of one of his most impressive Las Vegas seasons with his emotions poured into songs such as 'It's Midnight', 'You Gave Me A Mountain' and 'If You Talk In Your Sleep' while at the same time showing his real anger at the recent negative press that he had been receiving.

As this was such an important Closing Night, this is the complete performance including the extra songs by 'Voice'.

CD 1 – Side A and B: Microphone Dialogue / I Got A Woman - Amen / Karate Dialogue / Until It’s Time For You To Go / If You Love Me (Let Me Know) / It’s Midnight / Big Boss Man / You Gave Me A Mountain / Priscilla Dialogue  / Softly As I Leave You / Hound Dog / An American Trilogy / It’s Now Or Never (1)

CD 2 – Side C and D: Band Introductions - Solos / Bringing It Back (Voice) / Aubrey (Voice) / Introductions Continued / It’s Now Or Never (2) / Let Me Be There / If You Talk In Your Sleep / Drugs Dialogue / Hawaiian Wedding Song / Jewellery Dialogue / Can’t Help Falling In Love.

August 15 - New Graceland and Import Vinyl (Updated)

Shop Graceland announced the November 7, 2025 release of their third 10-inch single, 'Blue Christmas'.

This limited-edition 10-inch pairs two holiday classics from Elvis’ legendary 1957 Christmas sessions: 'Blue Christmas' and 'Santa Claus Is Back in Town' on blue colored vinyl.

DescriptionIn 1957, Elvis Presley recorded these two songs during the landmark sessions that produced Elvis’ Christmas Album.

“Blue Christmas” is one of Elvis’ most iconic and enduring holiday songs. Written by Billy Hayes and Jay W. Johnson and first recorded in 1948, the song became iconic when Elvis gave it his signature sound, complete with Millie Kirkham’s ghostly “woo-wee-woo” backing and The Jordanaires’ classic harmonies.

Though released on the 1957 album, “Blue Christmas” wasn’t issued as a commercial single until 1964, where it quickly became a hit. Its performance in the 1968 “Comeback Special” is the only known video footage of Elvis singing a Christmas song.

The flip side “Santa Claus is Back in Town” is a bluesy holiday track written for Elvis by legendary songwriting duo Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. The song delivered a new kind of Christmas spirit – one that was cool, rebellious, and unmistakably Elvis.
Together, these two tracks capture the spirit of a 1957 Christmas – a year that gave us Elvis’ first holiday album, his first Christmas at Graceland, and a musical legacy that still echoes every December.

"Blue Christmas/Santa Claus is Back In Town" is the third release in the limited-edition 10" collector's vinyl series exclusively available from Graceland.  the first in the series, a 70th-anniversary celebration of Elvis' breakout hit "That's All Right" completely sold-out during pre-order, the second release, which commemorates the 65th anniversary of Elvis' triumphant return to the spotlight after two years of service in the U.S. Army is still available.

Graceland Legends

Graceland inducted The Imperials into their  Graceland Hall of Fame or Graceland Legends.

Terry Blackwood posted on Facebook: It was such an honor to be included in that group of singers who backed Elvis so my years ago.

Elvis Updates from Graceland

Elvis Presley Enterprises managing partner Joel Weinshanker delivered some news during this year's "Conversations on Elvis" event at Graceland. The take-a-ways are:

Weinshanker reconfirmed the September 6, 2025 premiere of the 'EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert'  documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival. He couldn't contain his excitement about the material, saying: "I can't even think of a superlative to use for this grouping, the entire film, that is now digitized."

Even Baz Luhrmann sent a playful video message from a scoring session, joking: "I am not caught in a trap. I'm here recording music for an epic [documentary] where Elvis sings and tells his story like never before."

The documentary was financed by Sony Music in partnership with EPE, and the team is committed to a proper theatrical release. As Weinshanker put it: "It needs to be seen in theaters." They're aiming for a release around Elvis's birthday in January 2026, with streaming availability and "an extended version on physical media, likely a Blu-ray" to follow.

We were able to get the footage out of the salt mines. Jerry Schilling happened to be an editor on the film - and to me, the best, most accurate, straightforward Elvis point of view is Jerry Schilling. We went to the editing banks in Burbank for Warner Brothers, and I took Jerry with me. We looked through the footage and our minds were blown.

He emphasized that beyond the film itself, there are "hundreds of hours that exist beyond that. It's a real treasure trove that's going to help [Graceland] as an institution know more and understand more about Elvis."
But I will tell you in the future, Riley will be a big part of it, that there is an opportunity with technology the way it is. We're getting to a place where there is an opportunity for an Elvis hologram show, a concert performance, utilizing the best technology.

Even to the point where if someone says, "We love you Elvis," the Elvis would actually look towards them and say, "Thank you very much" and actually have that cognitive ability. It's incredible.

More importantly, even than the film, is the knowledge that we're going to gain and the things that we don't know about what Elvis did during a certain period of time. There's a Gretsch guitar that we didn't know he actually performed with during that time - it's in the footage, now we know it is.

This may not bode well for some other auctioneers in the Elvis universe because it may dispel even more myths and rumors. But for us, we're always looking for the truth. This really is a treasure trove of what's going to help us as an institution understand more, see more.

You're going to see a lot of celebrities, and for the first time, because a lot of them aren't here anymore, they may speak to what Elvis meant to them. You're going to see people backstage - there are elements in here that you can't even imagine that are just so amazingly cool and so important.

Hologram Show and Tour on the Horizon

Elvis fans have another reason to get excited - an Elvis hologram concert experience is getting closer to reality! Weinshanker revealed that EPE is making significant progress on what he described as "an Elvis hologram show, a concert performance, utilizing the best technology." When asked about the timeline, he said: "It's getting close."

The project aims to honor Elvis's innovative spirit, with Weinshanker noting that Elvis "was a first adapter. He wanted all the [latest] technology, he wanted all these things." He believes that when fans finally see the hologram show, they'll "know that Elvis was the greatest performer of the 20th century."

But I will tell you in the future, Riley will be a big part of it, that there is an opportunity with technology the way it is. We're getting to a place where there is an opportunity for an Elvis hologram show, a concert performance, utilizing the best technology.

He noted that there is a "God-Like essence" to the real Elvis that is impossible to truly recreate. God did something special that day - "There is only one Elvis"

Even to the point where if someone says, "We love you Elvis," the Elvis would actually look towards them and say, "Thank you very much" and actually have that cognitive ability. It's incredible.

A new tour of Elvis with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is being worked on for 2027. This will use the newly found footage, it will be a "next Generation" special.

He did discuss 'Elvis Evolution' and how he was involved with them for the "last six months" to make the show the "very best it could be". He acknowledged that their initial 'AI / Hologram' marketing was wrong. - He has not seen the final version of the show. However EPE is bringing the 'Elvis Evolution' third-act, the '68 Special section', to Graceland.

Big Plans for the 50th Anniversary

Perhaps most intriguingly, all these projects are part of what Weinshanker called a larger "march towards 2027" - the 50th anniversary of Elvis's passing. He promised that fans will see significant changes at Graceland, saying: "It's a lot of work, but going into '27, you're going to see a lot of new things at Graceland. You're going to see that we're really going to represent for the 50th anniversary, and we're going to make Elvis proud."

The event took place during Elvis Week at Graceland on August 15th, as part of the "Conversations on Elvis" series where Weinshanker delivered what host Tom Brown described as his annual "State of Elvis" address.

With a groundbreaking documentary, innovative hologram technology, and major plans for 2027, it's an incredibly exciting time to be an Elvis fan. The King's legacy continues to find new ways to captivate audiences nearly five decades after his passing!

Vigil

Priscilla Presley did not attend this year's annual Candlelight Vigil at Graceland, but she honored the memory of her late former husband, Elvis Presley, on social media.

"After all these years, I still smile when I think of the little moments we shared. The world remembers your fame, but I remember your love & kindness at home," Priscilla posted on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of Elvis and her. "Even after we had our problems we still maintained an undeniable connection."

The vigil started in the evening of August 15th and extended into the wee hours of August 16th.

Import Vinyl

Three new vinyl import titles have been released: the 2-LP / CD set ‘I Just Can’t Help Believin’ - An Afternoon In Culver City’, the LP / CD combo ‘The Best Of Seventyone’ and  the ‘Elvis Summer Festival’ LP.

Publicity for ‘I Just Can’t Help Believin’ - An Afternoon In Culver City’ on the Golden Globe import record label stated
: Available now is this fantastic 2 LP and CD collection featuring the July 29, 1970, rehearsal held at the MGM Studio in Culver City, Los Angeles, California.

MGM filmed the rehearsal to be used in the 'That's The Way It Is' movie, which followed Elvis both on and off stage during the summer of 1970. In numerous aspects, this rehearsal is extraordinary. Elvis was in a great mood, and the selection of songs is rather distinctive. Songs such as ‘I Was The One,’ ‘Baby Let’s Play House,’ and ‘A Fool Such As I’ are just a few of the numerous rare tracks performed in this rehearsal. These songs were completely absent from the live performances filmed for the motion picture ‘That’s The Way It Is’.

Certain songs were never played live by Elvis following his final public show in 1961 and some were never played live at all. Seven songs from this rehearsal were included in the original 1970 cinema version of ‘That’s The Way It Is.’ It is merely speculation as to why no additional performances were included in the ‘Special Edition 50th Anniversary Version’ released in 2020.

In 2001, it was Memories From Kalamazoo (Vavavoom Records) that presented parts of the show back then. Unfortunately the producers made a big mistake and forget to include half of the show. Even the Fort Baxter release Shakin’ Up the great Lakes missed the opportunity to present all of what was recorded although they included selections that were missing on the 2001 release.

This concert is now sourced from the original digital master, and Millbranch Music presents, for the very first time, the most complete version available - newly remastered in stereo and including previously unreleased solo performances by Kathy Westmoreland and Sherrill Nielsen.
Earlier producers chose to omit these solo features, but we believe they’re an essential part of the Elvis Presley Show. Elvis was known for celebrating his musicians and backing vocalists, their moments were not fillers, but part of the emotional flow of the concert.

Unfortunately, back in the days, sound engineers Bruce Jackson and Bill Porter were used to not record the show opening and the band introductions to save space on the tape, hoping Elvis would do an unusual song performance they could record and release for an upcoming album. Millbranch Music decided to include the not-recorded performances from other tour shows to give the fans an idea of the complete run-down of a 1977 Elvis in Concert experience. Mastered with soul and experience

The mastering of this LP was entrusted to Planet of Sound Mastering, led by Petrushka, an expert with over 25 years of experience in both live and studio audio. With a background as a musician, producer, and live engineer, her journey began as an intern at Abbey Road Studios in London, where she was mentored during a full-day mastering session. It was there she first heard about the legendary fifteen-year learning curve to mastering, a truth she now acknowledges through decades of hands-on experience.

During a U.S. tour with her former band in the 1990s, she also worked briefly on a project at Sony Studios in New York, adding to her understanding of how emotion, performance, and recording come together in a live context. "My style of mastering is all about feeling, you should get the sense you were there," says Petrushka. "This is not about polishing everything to perfection, but about preserving what made it human and alive."

Having grown through years of practical refinement - from theory to instinct - her approach reflects a deep sensitivity to how a performance breathes. For this release, every channel was carefully balanced, with special attention given to the horn section, vocal depth, and instrumental clarity. On the Kalamazoo source, some analog tape hiss remains, a conscious decision. Rather than compromise the dynamic integrity of the recording, the sound was preserved as close as possible to the moment it was captured: raw, vivid, and real.

The album will be available in two Collector’s Editions: on classic black colored vinyl and as a Limited Edition on transparent blue colored vinyl. Each version comes with full-color printed inner sleeves, featuring rare photos and liner notes.

June 30 - New Import (re)releases (Updated)

J. K. Mullins published his 116-page hardback 'Iconic Moments with Elvis: To Think I Did All That, 1970 to 1977', the third volume in a three-book set.

Publicity stated
: Iconic Moments with Elvis: To Think I Did All That, 1970 to 1977, describes a selection of iconic moments in the life of Elvis Presley during the seventies including, record breaking performances at the Houston Astrodome, New York Madison Square Garden and the Pontiac Silverdome, the concert documentaries “That’s The Way It Is” and “On Tour”, the meeting with President Nixon, special awards, the fabled “Aloha from Hawaii via Satellite” live TV concert, the sadness of his divorce and the ultimate tragedy of his death, when Elvis paid the price for everlasting fame. For over twenty years Elvis had given his all till he had nothing left to give. The iconic moments continued all the way to the end.

These iconic moments are described with photographs and over twenty-five accompanying sketches that the reader can color to create their own impression of that moment in history.

The book is available in both a soft and hardcover edition from >>> Amazon (associate link)

Import Releases

Three new import releases were announced with July 4, 2025 as the release date: 'Hang Loose - Stage Rehearsals and More', 'And I Love You So' and 'January 26 1974 Opening Show - Elvis As Recorded At The Las Vegas Hilton'.

Publicity for 'Hang Loose' - Stage Rehearsals and More' stated: This is an updated re-release of the ‘Hang Loose’ album (released in 1991 on the Bilko label) with the August 10 1970 rehearsal as originally recorded but now in much better sound compared to earlier releases!

This rehearsal was officially released with reconstructed intro's from live performances of the same songs... Parts of the original recordings being cut, 2 versions of "Polk Salad Annie" were edited and spliced to one version, and an incomplete recording of "I've Lost You" was not used at all. So the original "Hang Loose" album is still relevant. We thought it was time to release an updated version of this album with remastered sound! Not only the rehearsals are newly remastered but also the live recordings of "Folsom Prison Blues" and "I Walk The Line" from the August 14 1970 midnight show.

We've added a perfect live version of "Oh Happy Day' from the same show, and original radio spots for the movie "That's The Way It Is'.  So Hang Loose and enjoy!

CD 5 - Interview With Producer Felton Jarvis about the ‘Guitar Man’ album.

This recording is taken from a rare promotional LP to promote the 1981 Guitar Man album. Radio stations’ own Disc Jockeys could ask questions and the answer was pre-recorded on this record. This is a very efficient way of promoting a product. Painfully, this also came in handy since Felton Jarvis died before the album was released.

Note: all has been previously released, the content of CD 1 and 2 is sourced from MP3 files of these recordings.

Rock 'n' Roll King

The IDS budget record label re-issued their 2025 'Rock 'n' Roll King - Live 1974 / 1976' LP as a Limited Edition on blue colored vinyl. A version on clear vinyl was released January 2025.

The claim "Live Radio Broadcast" is only a ploy to use a loophole in EU copyright legislation.

Side B - 1976: C. C. Rider - Can't Help Falling In Love - Teddy Bear - Don't Be Cruel - Big Boss Man - You Gave Me A Mountain - Trying To Get To You - Hurt - Steamroller Blues.
