According to an update from the London Elvis Shop the upcoming 'Summer Nights’ release from the Follow That Dream collectors label has two faulty discs. This was later confirmed in an update from FTD's Roger Semon in an update to dealers.
Updated with the text from Shop Elvis: "Our manufacturing and mastering team notified us that a minor production anomaly occurred during the final pressing of the discs. Because the physical sets and artwork were already fully completed and packaged, the vendor is proceeding with shipping the release "as is."
To ensure you aren't confused when you dive into the audio, please note the minor differences below in bold will not be reflected in the printed tracklist artwork.
Added to the tracklisting if the CDs the website stated: "Disc 2 (Bonus Tracks): Due to a mastering error, Disc 2 features two additional opening tracks that were originally intended to be left off the final cut. Consider these a welcome addition for your collection!
Disc 3 (Track Order): The first two opening tracks on Disc 3 were accidentally transposed (switched in their playing order)."
Note: It is strange that the FTD label does not chose to correct this like they did with the faulty 'Destination USA' CD that had the same problem. Like the Elvis Information Network nicely stated: "Most fans will have enough 1974 live shows to get them through the next few weeks whilst the errors are being corrected."
The reason for the decision by the collectors label to sent out these faulty discs could be that a further delay holds up the shipping of 'Soldier Boy' and 'Promised Land' vinyl even longer. This way everything can be shipped together.
Some fans are perhaps you're better off waiting for the second pressing. For others, a mis-pressing becomes a collectable.
All the concerts on this set are Evening Shows and they were recorded in Des Moines June on 20 1974, Philadelphia on June 23, Columbus on June 25 and Milwaukee on June 28, 1974.
The concerts feature all of the songs that were recorded by the engineer during the June 1974 tour. - Recorded in mono. All previously unreleased soundboards except for Milwaukee June 28 on bootleg.
