July 23 - Greensboro Released

The "April 14 1972 Greensboro" CD from the Victrola import-label has been released. This CD, also due on vinyl, contains Elvis Presley’s powerhouse performance as recorded at the Greensboro Coliseum on April 14th 1972.

The concert has seen various releases, most recently on the Amiga label boxed set "Elvis On Tour - Deluxe Edition". But this release should "blows that set right out of the water!" according to the press-release as it was taken from the actual RCA multitrack tapes. The recording that the Victrola label obtained was mixed down from the original 8- and 16-track masters fairly recently, but then, oddly enough, stored back in the vaults. It is available now in a "fresh, professionally mixed stunning stereo sound" and comes in a deluxe double digipack accompanied with a 16-page booklet.

The label also announced that "Elvis April 14, 1972 Greensboro" will be released later this year on 180grams vinyl in a beautiful gatefold sleeve, and with a large booklet filled with many rare pix.

Elvis Safe And Sound

Dick Grob's book "Elvis Safe And Sound" has been released.

From the press-release:
Dick Grob first met Elvis in 1967, when Elvis was on his honeymoon in Palm Springs, California.  At the time, Dick was a Palm Springs Police Officer and was assigned to provide personal protection to the “Star.”  Thus began a friendship that lasted for more than ten years.

Dick is no stranger to the field of personal protection.  During his career, Dick has worked with the FBI, CIA, and other government agencies, including the U.S. State Department, providing protection to very high profile dignitaries, including U.S Presidents and Vice Presidents, and  protection for foreign heads of state such as Marshal Tito of Yugoslavia, England’s Prince Phillip, and Deputy Prime Minister Yigal Ailon of Israel when they visited Palm Springs.  Palm Springs was the playground of the “stars and dignitaries,” many of whom Dick provided personal security, and Elvis was no exception.

After providing security to Elvis during his visits to Palm Springs, Elvis made Dick “an offer he could not refuse” as his full time personal bodyguard and eventually Elvis’ Chief of Security.  In this capacity, Dick planned the security for all of his concert tours, appearances, and vacations to locations like Vail, Colorado and Hawaii.  Dick was responsible for the safety of not only Elvis, but for his daughter, Lisa Marie, and the rest of Elvis’ family.

“Elvis Safe & Sound,” Dick’s new book, tells some of the stories experienced by the author over his ten year relationship with Elvis.  Not only was Dick Elvis’ bodyguard and Chief of Security, he was Elvis’ close personal friend. Some of his stories are funny; some are scary; other’s just plain interesting.
“Elvis Safe & Sound” is jammed-packed with Dick’s personal descriptive accounts of his time with Elvis. It includes documents from Dick’s personal archives as well as rare, never before seen photos of Elvis on stage, and copyrighted documents and photos (in color and black and white). “Elvis Safe & Sound” is a great narration of Dick’s authentic and personal time while he kept “Elvis Safe & Sound.”

Elvis Presley’s Graceland announces a brand-new Chapel in the Woods. The newly constructed chapel will feature a grand ceiling and windows throughout to allow the beautiful surroundings of the Graceland woods to be the back drop for couples to be married or renew their vows. Located just steps from the newly constructed AAA rated Four Diamond luxury resort, The Guest House at Graceland, the Chapel in the Woods makes for the most iconic and memorable wedding destination. To christen this new chapel, Graceland is hosting a day of love, featuring couples whose love were inspired by Elvis, whether on a visit to Graceland or during Elvis Week. The Chapel in the Woods will be hosting one special wedding and an amazing ten  vow renewals on August 13, 2018.

For the last 18 years, nestled in the woods beside Elvis Presley’s Graceland, stood the original Chapel in the Woods. The quaint wedding venue, located on the iconic property of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, has been host to almost 2,000 weddings, dedications, and vow renewals. The all-new chapel features modern design and architecture by HBG Design, who previously collaborated on the design of The Guest House at Graceland. Maintaining the intimate feel, 75 guests can be hosted at this charming new location.

The Chapel in the Woods is officially accepting reservations for ceremonies as early as August 14, 2018. During Elvis Week 2018, fans and friends are invited to an open house at the new chapel from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm on August 16, 2018, when celebratory wedding cake will be served. The new chapel is located adjacent to The Guest House at Graceland. Parking is permitted at The Guest House for a fee.

Marking the 2,000th wedding at Graceland, the first wedding in the new chapel will be between Julie and Marc, who met three years ago at Elvis Week 2015. After running into each other in the lobby of their hotel, Marc, a native Memphian who was visiting his hometown on business, offered first-time Elvis Week attendee, Julie, a tour of the iconic Elvis Presley historic locations downtown. From then on, they were inseparable. Julie explains of their immediate connection, “That is the power of Elvis, of Elvis Week. This profound love for Elvis brings people together, even if for one small moment, one sacred Candlelight Vigil, or for a lifetime, like with Marc and me. We can’t imagine our life without this Elvis connection.”

To continue the day of love, Graceland is asking for couples who met at Graceland or Elvis Week and would like to take part in a group vow renewal on August 13, 2018. Ten couples will be chosen for this complimentary group ceremony. Couples should submit their Elvis-inspired love story by July 27, 2018 to be considered. These couples will be the first in the new chapel, marking their place in Graceland history!

To submit a love story, email love@graceland.com with an image and name of the couple, the story of how the couple met at Graceland or during Elvis Week, and when they will be arriving to Elvis Week 2018. Sony/ATVC Added to Producing Team of Heartbreak Hotel

Sony/ATV Music Publishing has come on board as a co-producer and investor of brand new Elvis Presley stage musical "Heartbreak Hotel".

A prequel to the Tony Award-winning Million Dollar Quartet, "Heartbreak Hotel" recounts the astonishing early life of the undisputed King of Rock 'n' Roll whose pioneering recordings with record producer Sam Phillips at Sun Records unleashed a music revolution and propelled Presley to worldwide fame and adulation.

The new musical is written and directed by Million Dollar Quartet co-creator Floyd Mutrux and is a partnership between Heartbreak King Productions, the Tony Award-winning producers behind productions including Rock of Ages and A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder, and Authentic Brands Group, owner of Elvis Presley Enterprises LLC. It will have its premiere at the Broadway Playhouse in Chicago on Sunday, July 15.

Besides its role as a co-producer and investor, Sony/ATV has also agreed to license to "Heartbreak Hotel" more than a dozen songs recorded by Presley. These include some of his most-recognized and successful early hits, such as "Hound Dog," "Jailhouse Rock," "Mystery Train," Lawdy Miss Clawdy" and "Rip It Up" as well as "Heartbreak Hotel," which not only serves as the musical's title but was his first Billboard pop No. 1 and first million-seller in the U.S. and became his breakthrough international hit.

Sony/ATV Music Publishing Chairman and CEO Martin Bandier said: "Elvis Presley is the ultimate music icon who not only totally transformed music but changed the world. I am proud that Sony/ATV is now involved as a co-producer and investor of "Heartbreak Hotel" which will not only serve as a fantastic reminder to everyone like me who grew up with Elvis just how unique and special he was, but will be a terrific way for a new audience to discover the music and life of The King of Rock 'n' Roll."

July 11 - Elvis Hologram Tour?

According to the Hollywood News Daily website (and fore what it is worth) Lisa Marie Presley is reportedly planning to head out on a new tour featuring her late father Elvis Presley via a specially designed hologram according to recent reports.

The N.E. reports that Lisa Marie Presley is going to bring the magic of her father King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley back to life in a hologram tour featuring herself and Elvis singing duets together of all of Elvis’ most popular songs.
As previously reported, Lisa Marie Presley is facing some major financial issues revealing earlier this year that she is broke. Lisa, who is currently engaged in a nasty divorce from fourth husband Michael Lockwood claims her financial situation is in dire straits and she cannot afford to give in to Lockwood’s outrageous demands for spousal support.

Lockwood states he believes Lisa Marie is lying to the courts claiming that all her Elvis Presley inheritance fortune is gone. Lisa Marie Presley is also currently suing her former business manager claiming that due to his poor business sense her money is all gone.

According to HND previous reports, Lisa Marie Presley is so desperate for cash that she is willing to do just about anything to make a living these days, especially since she can no longer count on her mom, Priscilla Presley for money.

It is claimed that Lisa is following suit from her former and late ex-husband Michael Jackson’s family plans to use an MJ hologram to bring in fans with an upcoming tour. Lisa Marie Presley is well aware that Elvis Presley fans are some of the most dedicated fans in the world and feels that it would be a great opportunity not only for herself but for fans to enjoy Elvis more than four decades following his tragic death.

Lisa already has a full week of money making opportunities coming up in Memphis for Elvis Presley Week from August 9-the 18th where she will be on hand for the 41st anniversary where fans, for a price will have the chance (for a price) to meet the only daughter of Elvis Presley for a photo and autograph session prior to the annual candlelight vigil honoring the anniversary of Elvis’ death at Graceland.

During Elvis Presley Week Lisa Marie will also be debuting new duet she has recorded with her Dad adding her voice to a gospel track “Where No One Stands Alone.”

Sources close to Lisa Marie Presley’s situation claim Lisa is finally ready to follow in her mom, Priscilla’s business shoes realizing that Elvis Presley, though gone is not forgotten  fans continue to look for any and all opportunities to keep Elvis’ legacy  thriving within their hearts and would love an opportunity to see Elvis back on stage entertaining in any form.

July 05 - Recording Engineer Jim Malloy Died

Recording engineer Jim Malloy died. Over the course of his career — first in Hollywood, then Nashville — Malloy worked with a staggering list of legends, including Elvis Presley, Duke Ellington, Johnny Cash, Henry Mancini and Dolly Parton. Elvis Presley called him the "best engineer anywhere as far as I'm concerned".

Malloy originally worked alongside Chet Atkins in Nashville but truly began his work with Elvis when Felton Jarvis started as Elvis' producer on his May 1966 'How Great Thou Art' sessions. Malloy also worked on the 'Guitar Man', 'Clambake' & 'You'll Never Walk Alone' sessions

He won a Grammy Award in 1964 for engineering Mancini's "Charade" and was nominated for five more Grammys that decade for his work on Presley's "How Great Thou Art," Eddy Arnold's "The Last Word in Lonesome is Me," "The Latin Sound of Henry Mancini," "Pink Panther" and "The Addams Family Main Theme".

July 03 - From Elvis Presley Boulevard

The classic "From Elvis Presley Boulevard" album will be re-issued on August 17, 2018 by the Music on Vinyl label on 180 Gr. vinyl.

Synopsis:
A year before the tragic dead of the 'King of Rock and Roll', Elvis Presley recorded some songs live in the recording studio set up in his mansion. The album 'From Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis, Tennessee' reached some top positions in the worldwide charts and includes his top 10 hit 'Hurt'. It is one of the final recordings of his career. The melodramatic soul and country influenced songs are full of heartbreak and pain. It is one the saddest records he made, but still with his wonderful and recognisable voice.

In a career spanning a period of 25 years Elvis Presley became one of the world's most influential and commercial successful artists. The legend recorded songs in many different genres, including rock 'n' roll, country, blues and gospel. 41 years after his death he is still as popular as ever.

Side A: Hurt - Never Again - Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain - Danny Boy - The Last Farewell

Side B: For The Heart - Bitter They Are, Harder They Fall - Solitaire - Love Coming Down - I´ll Never Fall In Love Again
