Rocks The Garden

The SR import-label announced the release of "Rocks The Garden", a LP and CD set featuring a soundboard from Boston Garden, Boston MA , November 10, 1971 coupled with the unreleased live ambience recording from Houston November 12, 1971.

From the press-release (including the English):
The SR attitude is to present Elvis at the peak of his possibility and without doubt the November 1971 tour presents Elvis at his top. Both vocal and physical.

"Elvis appears better than ever" delivering incredible shows with a wider repertoire respect the previous tour, but overall the man is on the music. If Rock is attitude, the man got it as never before.

After one year prisoner in the Vegas and Tahoe hotel the tiger is finally free. The performance is terrific full and sharp you can’t stop to watch the man in action.

The Boston concert is great, but without doubt the Houston concert is better, is the pick of the tour. In seventy crazy minutes Elvis gives life to his best, spacing and personalizing all music kinds as nobody can do it... no other words are necessary.
The limited edition box set is housed in a deluxe 300 grams sleeve that includes a double vinyl edition of the album with the remastered show from Boston November 10, 1971, a CD with an unreleased show from Houston November 12, 1971 and as bonus a 60x30 high quality glossy paper 130 gram poster, plus the CD card  25x 12 cm and a large Sticker of  17x9 cm.

Double 200 gram vinyl, including the incredible Boston show with the best audio possible. A soundboard recording from the improved sound for the first time in a double high valued collector vinyl set at 33 rpm.

The CD includes we think the best show of the tour, Houston November 12, 1971, in a completely unreleased Audience recording with a decent audio. This recording come from an early generation copy of the master tape, the sound quality is  good considering the early arena show. We have on our hands the original mono tape of extremely good quality enabling us to carry out simple re-mastering work, concentrating on the reduction of noise trying to achieve a more clear sound and of Elvis in matter to delivery  the best audio possible for your listen pleasure.

Details special Limited set:

September 25 - Graceland Abandons 6,200-seat Arena Plan

EPE have abandoned their new proposal for their new 6,200-seat Arena due to objections from the Memphis Grizzlies. “At the time that we started this discussion I made sure everyone was aware of the fact that the Memphis Grizzlies in their use agreement for the FedExForum have a noncompete and non-participation agreement. The Grizzlies have raised an objection and in order to be good corporate citizens of Memphis my client has agreed to alter the proposal,” attorney James McLaren told the Economic Development Growth Engine of Memphis and Shelby County.

Graceland has used public incentives over the past three years to build a luxury hotel and a new visitor attraction, Elvis Presley’s Memphis. It recently asked the EDGE board to sweeten one of its incentives to cover the addition of a 50,000 to 75,000 square foot events center at a cost of $40 million to $50 million.

A lawyer for EPE told economic development officials that the new EPE plan is for a multipurpose facility with no permanent seating, limited to 3,500 spectators and events produced by Graceland and affiliates. The center could provide a larger space for the kind of entertainment productions that EPE has in the pipeline.

September 22 - Elvis Countdown for the Right to Rock

Due from Rowman & Littlefield Publishers on February 15, 2018 is the 270 page book "Counting Down Elvis: His 100 Finest Songs" by Mark Buffett.

From the publisher:
Over the course of his career and since, Elvis Presley has sold over a billion records; his music has touched nearly every modern listeners. But few are book-length assessments of his music instead of his life. In Counting Down Elvis: His 100 Finest Songs, Mark Duffett urges us to put aside the misleading stereotypes and rumor-filled debates about mythical Elvis and listen once again to musical genius who emerged from the Memphis music scene.

As Duffett illustrates, Elvis Presley had a unique approach to music, one that was powerful and versatile. In a career stretching across more than two decades Presley changed the face of popular music by drawing together genres--from country and blues to contemporary folk to even opera--and then putting his unique stamp on them all. Counting Down Elvis: His 100 Best Songs explores the full range of Presley recordings, from his earliest number to his end-of-career (and even posthumous) hits, combing through gold record hits and unpolished gems to distill the best Presley had to offer his generation, his successors, and listeners today.

Fighting for the Right to Rock (Rebels with a Cause)

Due for release on January 15, 2018 in the "Rebels with a Cause" series the children's book "Elvis Presley: Fighting for the Right to Rock" by John Micklos.

From the publisher:
This biography revisits an all American classic; the King of Rock and Roll. The original rock-n-roll rebel, Elvis Presley revolutionized the music industry. His hip-shaking performances made young fans scream, television censors scramble, and parents furious. But Elvis was far more than a sex symbol. Over a period of two decades, he had nearly 40 Top 10 hits. His music influenced The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, and many others. Elvis showed remarkable range as a singer, excelling at rock songs, ballads, rhythm and blues, country, and even gospel. Elvis died of heart failure in 1977 at the age of 42, but his legend and music live on.

Here is the cover-art for the "Deluxe Edition" of the upcoming cooperation between Elvis Presley and the Royal Philharmonic orchestra "Elvis Christmas" which is due for release from RCA/Legacy on November 24, 2017.

From the press-release:
RCA Records and Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will celebrate the 2017 holiday season with the release of Elvis Presley – Christmas with Elvis and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on Friday, October 6.

Christmas with Elvis and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra brings together Elvis Presley’s best-loved yuletide performances from Elvis’ Christmas Album (1957) and Elvis Sings the Wonderful World of Christmas (1971) re-imagined with sublime and exquisite new arrangements performed by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Produced by Nick Patrick and Don Reedman and recorded at Abbey Road Studio 2, Christmas with Elvis and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra follows in the phenomenal worldwide success of 2015’s If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (which has sold more than 1.5 million copies) and last year’s The Wonder Of You: Elvis Presley with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (which sold more than 800,000 copies worldwide).

Christmas with Elvis and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be released on CD, LP, and digital formats on Friday, October 6. A deluxe version of the album contains 4 bonus tracks (new symphonic versions of material from Elvis’ Peace In The Valley EP) and will be released on CD and digital formats Friday, November 24.

“I hope you’ll enjoy this new Christmas album,” writes Priscilla Presley, executive producer of Christmas with Elvis and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, in her liner notes for the record. “The songs chosen were songs that Elvis was particularly fond of and it seemed quite fitting to have the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra once again accompanying him at this very special time of year. I’m positive he would be smiling if this opportunity came up in his lifetime and that this album would definitely be in the making. Merry Christmas to all….”

This holiday season also marks the 60th anniversary of Elvis’ Christmas Album, the perennial classic that’s become the top-selling holiday album of all-time. Elvis’ signature interpretations of secular and sacred holiday classics have become an integral musical component of Christmas round-the-world. Elvis’ Christmas Album topped the Billboard 200 for four weeks in 1957 and 1958 and has remained a constant chart fixture for years after, selling more than three million copies. A reissue on RCA’s Camden label was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America, becoming Elvis’ single bestselling album and the bestselling holiday album of all time.

Material from Christmas with Elvis and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be featured in this November’s Elvis In Concert U.K. tour, a six-date engagement occurring November 23-30 in Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester and London.

September 11 - Sensational Opening Ninght In Tahoe

Expected soon from the E. P. Collector import-label is another exciting new release entitled "A Sensational Opening Night - From Japan With Love Vol. 4"

From the press-release:
Recorded live from the audience in Las Vegas, NV, August 4th, 1972, Opening show, this CD is subtitled "From Japan With Love Vol. 4" because it was recorded by a member of a Japanese fan club.
The Las Vegas, August 4th, 1972 Opening Night was first released in 2003 on the CDs „No Fooling Around“ and „Another Opening Night“. Those CDs were taken from a different, incomplete source tape. Our new recording is great sounding and, for the first time, 100% complete.

Elvis started his 7th season in Las Vegas with a fairly dynamic opening night. It was reported that Elvis was suffering from a headache, and he kept the opening show short with minimal in-between songs talk. He did not perform his usual showstopper „Suspicious Minds“, but he was on stage for 50 minutes, singing his heart out with a passion and energy not seen since August 1970. Compared to the previous Vegas season and the following tour in April, Elvis was in great physical shape, tanned, slim and full of energy. He was in a much better mental shape too, because his new girlfriend, model Linda Thompson accompanied him for the whole first week of this engagement. This concert is a good example of Elvis at his best, mixing rock’n’roll with ballads and blues, singing old and new songs, and looking great.

This concert is taken from a recently found first generation copy of original audience recorded cassette tape. You may ask your supplier for samples. This CD is packaged in a nicely designed digipak with great collection of quality images taken in August 1972, including real Aug. 4th, Opening night photos! If you have enjoyed our other August 1972 releases such as "Rock & Soul… And Some Mighty Fine Rock’n’Roll" and "Everybody Let’s Rock", then you are sure to enjoy our latest release.

As with all our releases, this CD is a labour of love and we hope you enjoy it. We are planning another CD taken from those "Japanese" tapes. So stay tuned!

From the press-release:
Elvis Presley opened his 11th Las Vegas season on August 19th, and he performed a total of 27 shows, closing on September 2nd. Once again, Elvis revisited his live repertoire based on previous seasons and he included several tracks from the December ’73 recording sessions, and he also added songs like "Softly As I Leave You” and „If You Love Me (Let Me Know)“. Elvis' new love, the beautiful Sheila Ryan was present and Elvis sang the rarely performed „Early Morning Rain“ for her. He sings the complete song.

The Las Vegas, August 29th, 1974 Dinner show is previously unreleased except for 7 songs released from a soundboard source by the FTD label („It’s Midnight“ CD). This concert is taken from an early generation copy of an original audience recorded cassette tape.
