A remarkable aspect of Elvis is that his posthumous legacy, like his life, continues to produce news, day by day. His legacy is still debated and celebrated every day by millions of fans around the world. So here, in recognition of 90 years of Elvis, is a day by day yearbook featuring all the significant releases and events from the continuing saga of the King of Rock and Roll. No other artist could justify such a retrospective each year, but Elvis does!

"It's rare when an artist's talent can touch an entire generation of people. It's even rarer when that same influence affects several generations. Elvis made an imprint on the world of pop music unequaled by any other single performer.

After being out of print for a good number of years, the Music On Vinyl record label makes 15 titles out of our Elvis Presley back catalogue available again between.

Each title will see two different editions: one on regular-colored vinyl and one very limited on mix-colored, marbled vinyl, both housed in deluxe sleeves with a linen look and feel.

The label announced the fourth batch of Elvis’ albums in their re-issue series: ‘Elvis 56’, ‘That’s The Way It Is’ (Legacy Edition) and ‘Elvis Now’. The latter two titles will be released as ‘Music On Vinyl Webshop Exclusive Editions’ too. The release-date for this batch is march 6, 2006.

Details ‘Elvis Now’: Elvis Now was, despite the title, recorded between early 1969 and the summer of 1971 and encompasses different genres including country, gospel, soul and pop. We see for example Kris Kristofferson-penned 'Help Me Make It Through the Night' and The Beatles' 'Hey Jude', all lavishly arranged keeping in mind the Las Vegas aesthetic of 70s Elvis. The album only had one single, 'Until It's Time for You to Go / We Can Make the Morning', which reached number 9 on the Easy Listening chart in the US in March 1972 and number 5 on the UK Singles Chart in April 1972.

Details 'That's The Way It Is':
Elvis’ 12th studio album, consists of eight studio tracks recorded at the RCA studios in Nashville and four songs performed live at The International Hotel in Las Vegas. It accompanied the theatrical release of the eponymous documentary film, although it is not generally considered a soundtrack album.

Added to this definitive 4-LP legacy edition are four single sides from the period and a selection of fly-on-the-wall outtakes from the June Nashville sessions that produced the majority of tracks for the LP. Disc 3 and 4 feature the first complete release of a concert from Elvis’ 1970 'Summer Season' recorded on August 12. The 20-page booklet features an insightful essay, photos and memorabilia.

'That’s The Way It Is' (Legacy Edition) will be available as a limited edition of 1,500 individually numbered copies on transparent vinyl and as a limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies Shop Exclusive on Yellow/Black Marble Vinyl.

January 14 - The Imperials: Years of Impact 1968-1971

This new 131-page book is available in softcover and Kindle editions. Not surprisingly, as one of Elvis’ backing groups, the cover image features The Imperials with Elvis, while the back cover includes 12 album covers, five of which are Elvis releases.

The author, Dave Taylor, is a retired journalist and full-time author. His new book is a follow up to his 2025 release the 168-page “Jewels in the Crown: Jake Hess and The Imperials 1963-1967”, also with some Elvis content.

The new book is described as: “Gospel music underwent great changes in the late 1960s with numerous influences from the secular music field becoming prominent in both studio recordings and live performances. Southern Gospel Music was changing from the standard four-part harmony with simple piano accompaniment to sophisticated arrangements and recordings.

“The Imperials, while continuing to present songs with a clear gospel message, began to introduce vocal arrangements akin to those of numerous secular vocal groups who were at the time topping the popular charts. This era included the rise of praise music, the advent of contemporary Christian music, the California-based Jesus music, and even the start of what would be called Christian rock. Their progressive approach to new musical directions led to backup vocal work with Elvis Presley, Jimmy Dean and Pat Boone.

“While on the cutting edge of the latest developments in musical styles and recording technology, The Imperials continued to present the Message in the most musically proficient, professional and spiritually-uplifting manner befitting the royalty and majesty of their name while representing the King of Kings. Inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 1998, the members of this outstanding vocal group during the years 1968 through 1970 were Armond Morales, Jim Murray, Joe Moscheo II, Terry Blackwood and Roger Wiles. Country singer Larry Gatlin briefly replaced Wiles in 1971 before being succeeded by Greg Gordon, formerly of the Chuck Wagon Gang.”

The book is available from >>> Amazon.

Remembering Lisa Marie Presley

As we continue to share stories about Elvis Presley, we pause a moment to remember Lisa Marie Presley because today marks exactly three years since she left us.

Let's remember Lisa Marie today as a beautiful, independent woman who, with the Presley family name, couldn't lead an ordinary life. She is deeply missed and always remembered.

January 10 - Charts January 2026 - Week 2 - Updated

Christmas is really over, so we're (almost) back to the "charts as usual".

Official U.K. charts

January 09 - More Music On Vinyl

The Music On Vinyl record label released the fourth batch in their Elvis Presley re-issue program.

Publicity stated: As always, the editions on marbled vinyl are strictly limited to 500 copies and will be for sale exclusively at our own web shop. Now, let’s get down to business because the next three records will surely make any Elvis fans’ heart skip a beat.

Much more than a collection of leftovers: Elvis Back In Memphis! The album is comprised of material culled from the 1969 session recorded at American Sound Studio in Memphis that yielded the classic From Elvis in Memphis album.

After being out of print for a good number of years, we are making 15 titles out of our Elvis Presley back catalogue available again between August 2025 and February 2026. Each title will see two different editions: one on regular-coloured vinyl and one very limited on mix-coloured, marbled vinyl, both housed in deluxe sleeves with a linen look and feel.

'Back In Memphis' is comprised of material culled from the 1969 session recorded at American Sound Studio in Memphis that yielded the classic From Elvis in Memphis album. But, this album is much more than a collection of leftovers. Elvis' rendition of Percy Mayfield’s 'Stranger In My Home Town' for example is a fan-favourite and somewhat of a hidden gem among Elvis aficionados. Leftovers or not: this album once again proves that the King could really do no wrong and that there is no such thing as “leftovers” in his vocabulary anyway.

Back In Memphis is a limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies on green marble vinyl and on green marbled vinyl and 1,500 copies on green colored vinyl. The LP is available from >>> Amazon (associate link).

Good Times
is The King's 20th studio album, released near the end of his career. It contains hits such as 'I’ve Got a Thing About You'.

Good Times is Elvis Presley’s 20th studio album and was released in 1974, near the end of a career tragically cut short. Most of the tracks are the first pick of a recording session at the famous Stax Studios in December 1973, with “Take Good Care of Her” and “I’ve Got a Thing About You” as leftovers from a session at Stax in July of that year. The latter became a hit, rising to #4 on the Country charts. The album contains more top Elvis fare, though: “My Boy”, “Spanish Eyes”, “Loving Arms” & “She Wears My Ring”.

Good Times is available as a limited edition of 500 copies on pink marble vinyl and 1,500 copies on pink marbled vinyl. The LP is available from >>> Amazon (associate link).

On Stage - February, 1970 is Elvis' second live album recorded in his famous Vegas period. Includes UK #1 'The Wonder Of You'.

On Stage (subtitled February, 1970) is Elvis’ second live album, recorded in his famous Vegas period on two dates in 1969 and 1970. Unlike his previous live album, this record featured songs that were not typically associated with Presley’s regular live repertoire in favour of covers to show his ever-dedicated audience that he was very much staying abreast with current music. In this case we’re talking renditions of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline”, Del Shannon’s “Runaway”, Tony Joe White’s “Polk Salad Annie”, and the Beatles’ “Yesterday”. But, it’s the Elvis staple “The Wonder Of You” which earned him a #1 hit in the UK. Fun fact: the album is also known for not showing Elvis’ name anywhere on the cover.

On Stage February, 1970 is available as a limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies on white and black marble vinyl and as a Limited Edition on 1,500 copies on blue colored vinyl. Bothe include a printed inner sleeve and 60x60cm fold-out poster.

Rethinking Elvis

With a delay of almost than a year, the academic book 'Rethinking Elvis' by Mark Duffett (who died February 15, 2025) has been released.

Synopsis: Decades after his passing, Elvis Presley remains one of popular music's greatest icons. He was among the most successful, influential, socially significant, and controversial performers of the twentieth century, with a celebrity so indelible that every recent American president has negotiated its orbit.

While much of the coverage of Elvis' life concerns his personal history and musical ability, Rethinking Elvis pushes beyond the familiar to address Elvis' branding, historical and geographic reception, heritage, and fan phenomenon. Using Elvis' iconography as a point of departure, popular music scholars and historians contend with issues related to the performer's whiteness, Southern identity, and gender, among others, in turn offering myriad opportunities to pursue new approaches in the emergent field of Elvis studies.

The book is available from the >>> Amazon U.K. and >>> Amazon U.S. webshop (associate links).

January 08 - A Special Day For Elvis Fans - Updated

If the King of "Rock 'N' Roll" had lived, Elvis Aaron Presley would have turned 91 years old on January 8th. And while he has been gone for nearly half a century, his music and legend live on

Born in a shotgun shack in East Tupelo, Mississippi, in 1935, Elvis Presley achieved legendary status. He transformed the industry with his unique sound and style, leaving a legacy that still resonates on his 91st birthday year.
A remarkable aspect of Elvis is that his posthumous legacy, like his life, continues to produce news, day by day. His legacy is still enjoyed every day by millions of fans around the world.

Elvis revolutionized Rock and Roll, but his true strength lay in his humanity. In his voice, his charisma, his vulnerability, and his warmth. He knew how to touch people, connect them, and bring them joy, something he continues to do to this day. His music lives, his stories live, and his legacy grows every day. But For many, was and remains so much more than just a musical pioneer.

Elvis 91st Birthday proclamation: Elvis' 91st birthday celebration was held at Graceland with short speeches and the 'EPiC' cake-cutting. Priscilla and Riley Keough were notably absent from this year's festivities, but plenty of fans still converged on the front lawn to celebrate Elvis' special day.

During his speech Graceland Holdings' Joel Weinshanker became charmingly emotional when he recalled how one of Lisa Marie's last appearances was at the Birthday Celebration in 2023 and that Elvis family member Sirius DJ 'Big Jim' also recently passed away.

He said, "In the Elvis family, we often talk about loss but we often talk about remembrance. What Elvis' birthday is about, what Graceland is about, is remembering; remembering great people who did amazing things ... who changed our lives, who changed generations' lives. So, we're going to be working diligently to bring amazing, new things to Graceland. To bring amazing things into the world for Elvis."

Jerry Schilling talked lovingly about his times in Graceland and gets emotional about his friend and meeting Elvis when he was only 19 years-old. The proclamation of Elvis Presley Day was read by Memphis and Shelby County officials. Weinshanker  was joined by 'EPiC' film editor, Jonathan Redmond, and Jerry Schilling with the trio joyfully cutting the massive cake.

Later that day Graceland hosted the first U.S. screenings of 'EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert'.

EPiC Soundtrack

Shop Elvis unveiled the details of the 'EPiC' soundtrack album which will be released on CD, vinyl and digitally. The CD will be available February 20th, the 2-LP on April 24, 2025.

Here is the official press release from Sony: Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, and RCA Records will release the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann’s EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert on February 20th, a collection of 27 recordings heard in the upcoming film, featuring updated mixes of iconic live performances alongside new remixes and medleys of classic Elvis recordings.

The soundtrack release will accompany the theatrical premiere of EPiC: Elvis Presley In Concert, coming to theaters with a one-week exclusive IMAX engagement on February 20th, followed by a global theatrical release from NEON and Universal Pictures International on February 27th. EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert delivers a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience in which Elvis sings and tells his story like never before.

While making his 2022 film ‘Elvis’, Luhrmann and his team uncovered a treasure trove of long-hidden film negatives and footage in the Warner Brothers vaults, originally captured for the documentary films Elvis: The Way It Is (chronicling his August 1970 residency in Las Vegas) and Elvis On Tour (shot throughout his 1972 concerts across the U.S.), as well as never before seen 8mm footage and never before heard audio of Elvis speaking about his life. Luhrmann and his team spent years restoring this material, collaborating with Academy Award nominee Jonathan Redmond, Peter Jackson’s Park Road Post Production  as well as many others. What was revealed apart from Presley’s iconic, one of a kind performance energy was the man behind the myth “totally at ease on stage, able to feel the true love of his fans and communicate himself with an intimacy and humanity, unlike any other artist,” as Luhrmann describes.

Coupled with remixes and medleys that blend, reimagine and interpret Presley in bold new directions, the resulting film and soundtrack are a testament to Elvis’ 1970s performances as “startlingly ahead of their time” (Variety) and “the singer at his most mesmerizing” (The Guardian). The soundtrack album is executive produced by GRAMMY nominated Luhrmann.

Listen to “Wearin’ That Night Life Look” today, which draws from four classic Presley recordings (“Wearin’ That Loved On Look,” “Night Life,” “I, John,”  “Let Yourself Go”) to “create an entirely new track from Elvis DNA,” as envisioned by Luhrmann and the film’s GRAMMY nominated music producer Jamieson Shaw.

Says Luhrmann of the inspiration behind the new medleys and remixes on the album, “We were constantly asking ourselves, what would Elvis do if he were around? How might he experiment, where might he go? He was always a musical searcher, looking for different flavors and sounds.”

The soundtrack will be released on digital and CD formats on February 20th, in conjunction with the film’s IMAX premiere. The soundtrack’s 2-LP vinyl release will follow on April 24th. The 2-LP will also include two color variants, a Graceland exclusive Red Marble vinyl, and an Amazon exclusive Translucent Orange and Yellow vinyl.

From Sony Music Vision, Bazmark, and Authentic Studios, EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert debuted to; critical acclaim, a standing ovation and dancing in the isles at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. EPiC marks Luhrmann’s second major project centered around Elvis Presley, following Elvis in 2022, which earnedeight Academy Award® nominations, won multiple BAFTA’s® and Golden Globes®, and grossed nearly US$300 million worldwide. With EPiC, Luhrmann transforms unearthed archival material into an electrifying cinematic odyssey that captures Elvis at his best; raw, human, eccentrically humorous, intimate and electric.

Joel Weinshanker On Future Plans for Graceland

In an exclusive interview with The Commercial Appeal, Joel Weinshanker talked about 'EPiC', the 50th anniversary of Elvis' death and more. The main take-a-ways:

On the 'EPiC' Movie

Weinshanker said developing the 'EPiC' documentary has been a priority throughout his tenure. "I've been involved with Elvis Presley Enterprises for 12 years, and for 11 of those years, I've been trying to convince Warner Brothers to go into the salt mines and pull out all of this footage," he said. "I had a real understanding, even watching the original films, that there would be a tremendous amount of material there."

The project became possible following the success of Baz Luhrmann's 2022 'ELVIS' biopic and the director's relationship with Warner Brothers. "In my first meeting with Baz at Graceland, before he even agreed to do the biopic, I told him the story of all of this amazing footage. And Baz turned around and said, 'Boy, I want to make a documentary out of that.' And because of Baz's gravitas, very frankly, we were able to do it."

According to Weinshanker, the documentary features Elvis as narrator. "What I've always said is that the best person who should speak about Elvis is Elvis," Weinshanker said. "When you see this film, that's really what Baz did. Elvis is the storyteller, you hear about his life in his voice. This movie is just an amazing opportunity for someone to get Elvis' story from Elvis."

On the Elvis Hologram Concert

Weinshanker revealed that an Elvis hologram concert experience is close to being announced. "We're getting very close to announcing a location for an Elvis hologram," he said.

He explained EPE's approach to new technology: "Every time there's a new technology, they ask first about using Elvis with that new technology. Often, we say no for a long time, or maybe forever. And then sometimes we just say no until the technology gets to a place where it makes sense. The technology has finally gotten to the place where it can be an amazing experience. We feel it's going to be great for our brand, and great for Elvis."

On the 50th Anniversary of Elvis's Death

The 50th anniversary of Elvis's death will be commemorated in August 2027 with year-long programming and events at Graceland. "We're 12 months out from what will be a year-long focus," Weinshanker said. "That's really going to be about us creating incredible storytelling and having as much of that storytelling coming from Elvis as possible. And it is a phenomenal story — it's the story of America, it's the story of our pop culture."

On the Future of Elvis Presley's Memphis

EPE is planning further development of the Elvis Presley's Memphis complex, which underwent a US$130 million renovation and expansion in 2017. Weinshanker said EPE is eyeing 2030 as "a time where we would have something really rolling out that would be finished and be the next iteration."

Two new exhibits debuted on January 8. "Our ability to constantly update and change is going to define the future for us," said Weinshanker. "We're lucky in that we have an incredible collection of artifacts and we've barely scratched the surface in terms of that material. So we're looking forward to showing people things they've never seen before."

Weinshanker concluded: "Ultimately, what we're trying to share is this incredible story of Elvis being told by Elvis, through us. What we're going to build and how we're going to expand is really going to be based upon that."
