October 27 - Graceland Guesthouse Opened

The new Guesthouse at Graceland 450-room hotel opend on October 27, right next door to Elvis Presley’s Graceland home. Jack Soden, Priscilla Presley and Joel Weinshanker welcome guests to The Guest House at Graceland.

The hotel reportedly cost $92 million to build and will be one of the largest hotels in Memphis. The hotel promises a 4-diamond experience and includes a 464-seat theater, 17,000 square feet of meeting space, 2 full-service restaurants with indoor/outdoor seating and a large outdoor pool.

There are 430 standard rooms plus 20 VIP suites – many located on the top floor of the hotel called the “The Upstairs”, reminiscent of the upstairs at Graceland where Elvis’ private bedroom is. There are 4 types of themed suites in the hotel which were all designed by Priscilla Presley including The King’s Suites, Vernon and Gladys’ Suites, TCB Suites, and Living Room Suites.

“When Elvis had friends and family visit Graceland, he would have them stay at a hotel down the street. He would have been thrilled to have had his own guest house where they could stay so close by,” Priscilla revealed.

In the Spring of 2017, a new entertainment complex called “Elvis: Past, Present and Future” will open across the street from Graceland to replace the current visitor center. This $45 million facility will include even more exhibit space, restaurants and shops and will be 5 times the size of the current visitor center.

October 24 - Burning Hot Chart

Elvis Presley set to become most successful solo artist in UK chart history with his posthumous album with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra "The Wonder Of You" set to a possible chart debut at #1. The album has unexpectedly leapfrogged Michael Buble (who was featured on Elvis Presley's previous abum with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra) and Lady Gaga in the race for this week’s No 1.

If it holds on then he will defeat Madonna to become the solo star with the most No. 1 UK albums ever — bagging 13 in chart-toppers in total. Elvis Presley and Madonna are currently neck and neck on 12. While Michael Buble’s Nobody But You was tipped for the top after huge pre-orders, Elvis has sold close to 40,000 copies in the UK and soared ahead of Michael Buble by a couple of thousand copies.

With the help of exclusive photos and commentary from Priscilla Presley, Elvis: The Official Collector's Edition is able to tell the complete story for the first time.

DiCaprio To Play Sam Philips

Leonardo DiCaprio has signed on to produce and star in an upcoming, still-untitled biopic about Sun Records founder Sam Phillips, the rock pioneer who produced landmark

records by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and many more.

Mick Jagger will also serve as a producer on the Paramount Pictures film, based on the Peter Guralnick's book Sam Phillips: The Man Who Invented Rock 'N' Roll. According to

Deadline, Jagger will hold a similar role in helping to foster the Phillips story to the silver screen as the Rolling Stones singer played on the HBO music drama Vinyl.

Phillips founded the Memphis-based Sun Records in 1952, setting up the famed Sun Studio, where Presley laid down his earliest recordings, including first single "That's All Right,"

considered one of the earliest rock n' roll releases.

While DiCaprio's Appian Way secured the rights to Sam Phillips: The Man Who Invented Rock 'N' Roll, Variety reports that the role of the Sun Records honcho likely won't be the actor's first big screen role since his Oscar-winning turn in The Revenant.

New Elvis Scripted Biopic For Television Being Filmed At Graceland

Weinstein Television is developing the first-ever scripted Elvis Presley television biopic to be shot at Graceland, the company announced on Wednesday.

The eight to ten part series will explore every aspect of the King of Rock n’ Roll’s life with access to Elvis’ personal archives including journals, clothing, automobiles and Graceland. The project is based on the 1982 book “Elvis” by author Dave Marsh.

Priscilla Presley, the former wife of Elvis, is attached as an executive producer, and the production is working in full partnership with the Presley Estate. Harvey Weinstein and Jerry Schilling will also exec produce.

“I’m a big fan of Harvey Weinstein’s independent films,” said Priscilla Presley. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him on this show and tell the story of how Elvis changed the culture of music and initiated a revolution that changed the world.”

No network is currently attached to this Elvis project, but Weinstein Co. is expected to shop the project around in the coming weeks.

“We are excited to work with Harvey Weinstein and the team on this special project,” said Jamie Salter, chairman and CEO, Authentic Brands Group, owner of Elvis Presley Enterprises, LLC. “Partnering with producers of this caliber enables us to provide viewers with a new and original experience that is as captivating as the King himself.”

The president and CMO of Authentic Brands Group added, “This project will truly honor everything that made Elvis Presley a central figure of our time. We are thrilled to be working with Weinstein Television and our Executive Producers on this TV biopic. This format enables us to do justice to Elvis’ rich and compelling story, which will be sure to thrill audiences.”

Elvis, who died in 1977, still has a huge follow today with more than 14 million fans on social media, and theres no doubt in today’s interest in the musical icon.

“To this day, Elvis is one of the few that lives up to the word ‘icon’. He is one of the most celebrated entertainers of all time whose influence surpasses the music he created. People’s fascination with his story goes beyond the stage and this biopic will pay homage to his brilliant legacy and give viewers an in-depth look at how he became The King,” commented The Weinstein Company co-chairman, Harvey Weinstein.

The Weinstein Company COO and president, David Glasser added, “We are thrilled to announce this biopic and our partnership with the Presley Estate. It’s an incredible opportunity to be the first-ever scripted TV series to shoot at Graceland and have access to Elvis’ personal archives. Elvis redefined an entire generation’s relationship to music and pop culture. This show will be an authentic and riveting look at how that came about from start to finish.”

Glasser and Sarah Sobel of TWC, and Authentic Brands Group’s Corey Salter, Marc Rosen, and Pamela Bebry negotiated the deal. The project will be overseen by Megan Spanjian who heads scripted television for TWC.

October 14 - On The Movie Stage And Sun Studio

The Memphis Recording Service announced the release of the 2CD/100page book compilation titled ‘Memphis Recording Service: The Complete Works 1953 – 1955’ on the 25th November 2016.

MRS will also release a few weeks after the CD release, a 2LP 180 Gram Vinyl version titled ‘Memphis Recording Service: Masters And Sessions 1953 – 1955’ with a bonus 4 page photo insert on the 16th December 2016.

Details Memphis Recording Service: The Complete Works 1953 – 1955:
The 100-page book chronicles Elvis’ short recording career there, from its humble beginnings (his personal acetate recordings from July 1953 and January 1954) through to the final Sun sessions in 1955. The full and comprehensive text is complemented by rare photographs and unseen pieces of documentation.

The 2CD’s contain the complete archival studio recordings from 1953- 1955: Elvis’ personal acetates, the Sun masters, along with rare session outtakes. The tracks have been painstakingly remastered and restored.

There are many highlights on this new release. All of the newly remastered tracks now sound much clearer and crisper. For instance, ‘That’s All Right’ has been taken from the ‘Mother’ master of the original Sun 45rpm. Also, for the first time on CD, ‘I Forgot to Remember to Forget’ appears without the false bass RCA added to it in the 1980s when tampering with the master tapes.

The remastering of Elvis’ first acetate recordings – ‘My Happiness’ and ‘That’s When Your Heartaches Begin’ (from July 1953) – has also well exceeded the sound quality ever achieved before on these primitive recordings. Furthermore, on the outtakes of ‘Blue Moon’, the painstaking audio restoration has removed the overload and studio hum present on previous issues, and made them sound much better than ever before. Indeed, all previous erroneous mastering faults and miscalculations have been rectified on this release, making it the best collection of these seminal recordings thus far.

CD 1:
My Happiness (Acetate - Personal Recording) - That’s When Your Heartaches Begin (Acetate - Personal Recording) - Ill’ Never Stand In Your Way (Acetate - Personal Recording) - It Wouldn’t Be The Same Without You (Acetate - Personal Recording) - Harbor Lights (Take 3M) - I Love You Because - That’s All Right (Sun 45rpm Master) - Blue Moon Of Kentucky - Blue Moon (Take 9M) - Tomorrow Night - I’ll Never Let You Go - I Don’t Care if the Sun Don’t Shine (Take 2FS, Take 3M) - Just Because - Good Rockin’ Tonight - Milkcow Blues Boogie - You’re A Heartbreaker - I’m Left You’re Right She’s Gone (Take 5M Slow Version) - Baby Lets Play House - I’m Left You’re Right She’s Gone - I Forgot To Remember To Forget - Mystery Train - Trying to Get To You - When It Rains It Really Pours Bonus Songs:

Christmas and Gospel Greats

Due for release from the Not Now label on November 21, 2016 is the double CD "Christmas and Gospel Greats".

Product description:

So entrenched was the public perception of Elvis as a hell-raiser, that the announcement he was making a record of Christmas songs sent the world into a tailspin. Released in 1957 Elvis Christmas Album, showed that Elvis had created a template for all future Christmas recordings: no rock star had ever undertaken such a project and it was Elvis who paved the way... Over the years, Elvis would always warm-up in recording studios and before live performances, by singing his favourite Gospel songs. But it was not until 1960, with the release of the LP His Hand In Mine, that the wider world understood the full extent of their rock & roll idol s fondness for inspirational music. Enjoy this superb compilation including "Santa Claus Is Back In Town", "If We Never Meet Again", "Blue Christmas" and many more.

CD 1: Santa Claus Is Back In Town - White Christmas - Here Comes Santa Claus - I'll Be Home For Christmas - Blue Christmas - Santa Bring My Baby Back - Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem - Silent Night - (There'll Be) Peace In The Valley - I Believe - Take My Hand, Precious Lord - It Is No Secret (What God Can Do)

CD 2: His Hand In Mine - I'm Gonna Walk Dem Golden Stairs - In My Father's House - Milky White Way - Known Only To Him - I Believe In The Man In The Sky - Joshua Fit The Battle - Jesus Knows What I Need - Swing Down Sweet Chariot - Mansion Over The Hilltop - If We Never Meet Again - Working On The Building
