November 26 - Wild Tiger For Christmas
The MxF label will release soon the second volume of “Wild Tiger in Concert'' entitled "Magnetic As Ever", featuring the Spokane, April 28, 1973 8.00 PM Show.
From the press-release:
The April Tour represent the first tour of the year, Elvis on tour means Elvis at the top of his possibilities. The 1973 is still a rocking Elvis, but without doubt is the year when all the demons come to the surface, maybe everything has to change to remain the same…...The year was begun with the glorious Hawaii TV satellite Show and after a pale useless Vegas season, Elvis recuperated from the fatigue, started the first tour of the year in a different mood … very energetic on stage, full of enthusiasm he sings with power delivering a solid and long show, with the classic repertoire of the 1973 including a incredible “Steaming rolling blues” version, together a sensitive I’ll Remember you and nice super pop I’m Leaving. On stage is an impressive figure in Fire jumpsuit, the rocker attitude still intact, the voice great, the atmosphere enormous, the demand terrific, 13.000 lucky people attended at the two shows of Spokane. The running-time is about 60.00 minutes.
The show is unreleased almost complete, Johnny B.Goode is missing for the half. Here we present the show directly from a first generation copy of a privately-recorded 60-minute cassette. The sound was painstakingly restored for your listening pleasure. The sound quality here is incredible good, considering it was taped from the audience. Elvis and overall the band is loud and clear, the sounds is very powerful in very good balanced mix with some great James Burton’ guitar solos, the audience is never too intrusive giving instead the real feeling of the concert.
Like its predecessors, this new release will be presented in a beautiful four panels digipack with a collection of photos taken during the afternoon show. As bonus the first 500 copies will come with a Christmas Card 12x12 cm.

November 22 - Elvis Songs, a Favourite Farewell
A UK study by The Co-operative Funeralcare found people are choosing to make their final farewell an upbeat affair, as Monty Python’s 'Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life' has been named the most popular song played at funerals. The delightfully upbeat tune has superseded Frank Sinatra’s 'My Way' for the first time in a decade.
A study of songs played at 30,000 funerals also showed that Elvis Presley is the most requested with his songs 'Always On My Mind', 'The Wonder of You', 'Crying in the Chapel', 'How Great Thou Art', 'Peace In The Valley', 'You'll Never Walk Alone' and 'Can't Help Falling In Love' among the most requested farewells.
The most popular group is Queen with requested tracks including "Who Wants to Live Forever" and "Don’t Stop Me Now". Meanwhile, traditional hymns, football anthems and classic pop songs continue to top the list of the "funeral music chart", with 'The Lord is My Shepherd', the UK Football Match of the Day theme tune and Robbie Williams’ 'Angels' featuring in the top 10.

November 19 - Viva Las Virtual Elvis
Jamie Salter, the branding guru who owns a majority of Elvis' estate, is planning a “live” show in Las Vegas with Presley appearing as a hologram. The Elvis Presley show still continues with Elvis boasting 12.4 million “likes” on Facebook and 187,000 followers on Twitter and the recently released a duet with Barbra Streisand. Never mind that he died in 1977.
And that’s just the beginning for the King of Rock ’n’ Roll and other long-dead celebrities. Reviving a corpse from a cryogenic deep freeze is still the stuff of science but every other promotional possibility is on the table. The Elvis “live” show in Las Vegas with Presley appearing as a hologram will be much like the one of Michael Jackson that appeared at a show in Sin City earlier this year. Pinup queen Bettie Page, managed by dead-celeb superagent Mark Roesler, is slated for a holographic burlesque herself.
Today, deceased icons from pop culture’s heyday are enjoying unprecedented success, out-earning even their former flesh-and-blood selves, says Salter, one of the new breed of brand managers using technology to wring big bucks from superstars otherwise resting in peace (or so we hope).
These late luminaries are profitable in part because they first captivated fans in a pre-Internet age of truly mass media, dominating the popular imagination in ways few contemporaries can match, Salter says
Even better, they aren’t able to create the sort of mischief that bedeviled their handlers back in the day, potentially damaging their brand in the bargain. They can no longer lapse into drug-induced comas in hotel rooms (Elvis), assault girlfriends with vodka bottles (Jimi Hendrix) or set themselves on fire while freebasing (Richard Pryor). “They can’t get pulled over for drunk driving, their reputations are intact.”
Model Kate Moss, by contrast, can still embarrass sponsor Burberry Group Plc (BRBY) by appearing to snort cocaine on the cover of a British tabloid. Bets on the dead have lately paid off big.
Salter bought the Elvis estate, including Graceland and the rights to the singer’s image and music, from Core Media Group Inc. in November 2013. Salter’s New York–based Authentic Brands Group LLC expects profits to rise by 25 percent this year thanks to Elvis-themed bathrobes, calendars, cookie jars, cuff links, luggage, Christmas-tree toppers and, oh yeah, music. “We bought Elvis at the right time,” Salter says. “None of the kids listen to his music, but look at how they’re dressing, and their flipped-up haircuts.” For a page ripped straight from Presley’s pompadour playbook, just Google Justin Bieber’s latest coif.

November 17 - Lightning Strikes Where The King Hold Court
The Straight Arrow import-label announced two new releases. "Lightning Strikes Twice In Portland! From - The Rick Rennie Master Tapes Vol. 2", containing featuring the November 11th, 1970 and April 27th, 1973 Portland shows and "The King Holds Court" featuring the Tuesday, August 28, 1973 Dinner Show and Wednesday, August 29, Dinner and Midnight Shows as recorded in Las Vegas Hilton Hotel, Las Vegas, NV.
From the producers:
Details: Lightning Strikes Twice In Portland! From „The Rick Rennie master tapes“ Vol. 2. Wednesday, November 11th, 1970 & Friday, April 27th, 1973, Memorial Coliseum, Portland, OR
Coming out soon is the new Straight Arrow's double-digipak CD release, called "Lightning Strikes Twice In Portland!", featuring the November 11th, 1970 and April 27th, 1973 Portland shows. These shows may well represent some of best of Elvis Presley live in the 70s. The Nov. 11th, 1970 recording really captures the raw excitement and electricity of those early tours. Elvis delivers a high octane performance that drives the audience in a frenzy. In parts he sounds a bit unfocused, but overall both Elvis and his audience are having such a ball that any criticisms of his performance are nothing more than nitpicking. The April 27, 1973 concert in the same city may well be his best show of the year, and is a serious contender for "Elvis' best concert performance in the 70's". Compared to the '70 show, his performance here is tighter, more focused and far more varied. Elvis is vocally strong and he delivers the goods in a knock-out performance.
Both shows were first released by the Live Archives label (1991) using slightly incomplete and inferior sounding copies of original Rick Rennie tapes. Memory Records issued those shows in 2004 ("On The Road Again" and "Shining In Portland" CDs). Those Memory Records releases were engineered and mastered using now obsolete hardware and software. 10 years have passed, and it is right time for the ultimate re-release of these special recordings - in a new, crisp, dynamic sound. Straight Arrow’s release of the November 11th, 1970 show appears - for the first time - totally complete. The Opening Vamp and the famous "Elvis has left the building" announcement at the end of show were restored. The 1970 show is taken directly from the original stereo master tape. The 1973 show is taken from better of two existing 1st generation copies made back in 70s (the master tape got lost thru the years). Original tape transfers made in March 2004 have been used. Every second was digitally restored from scratch to achieve optimal listening pleasure. Ask your local dealer for samples. As with every Straight Arrow’s release, this beautifully designed double-digipack edition is limited to 500 copies. If you enjoyed "A New Decade, A New Sound", you will enjoy "Lightning Stikes Twice In Portland!" too. These shows never sounded better!

Details The King Holds Court - Tuesday, August 28, 1973 Dinner Show & Wednesday, August 29, Dinner & Midnight Shows, Las Vegas Hilton Hotel, Las Vegas, NV
Following the remarkable success of our earlier 3CD set "On A Winning Streak", Straight Arrow is pleased to announce another 3CD collection featuring three more unreleased shows from the Summer 1973 engagement in excellent quality audience recorded audio. The three shows are all strong shows, with Elvis vocally strong (much more than in February '73) and delivering a very varied selection of songs at each of the shows. It's clear that he is in his element here, as his entertaining interaction with the audience and his knock-out vocal performances amply demonstrate. The presence of his daughter Lisa Marie inspires Elvis to give his best. These shows are a delight, and especially in this clear vibrant audience recorded audio that gives you a true "you are there" feel, they make for captivating listening. The August 28, 1973 D/S and August 29, 1973 D/S and M/S are previously unreleased. A few highlights from the (previously released) August 28, 1973 M/S were added. All 3 shows are taken from 1st generation copies of original audience recorded cassettes, made back in the 70s by English super-fan Rex Martin. Every second was digitally restored, every click manually removed, every drop-out fixed to achieve optimal listening pleasure. Ask your local dealer for samples to judge for yourself! If you enjoyed the "On A Winning Streak" set, then you will definitely not be disappointed by its sequel, "The King Holds Court"!

Country music's love affair with rock music has been an open secret for a long time we voted for 50 rock albums that should be rattling around inside a pick-up's glove compartment or blasting from the pocket of a blue jean....
The list is chronological, other albums from the similar period are The Rolling Stones, 'Sticky Fingers', Bob Dylan, 'Nashville Skyline', The Band, 'The Band'.
Elvis Presley, 'Elvis Country (I'm 10,000 Years Old)' (1971) - Elvis recorded country music throughout his career — from classics at Sun sessions in the Fifties to unrepentant schlock. 1971's Elvis Country isn't as famous as his 1968 comeback landmark From Elvis In Memphis but it's one of his most consistent, thematically tight albums, showing off his voice in boundless, effortless form and taking on a set of songs he had a deep connection with. Recording at Nashville's RCA Studios with greats like guitarist James Burton and drummer Jerry Carrigan, he does honky-tonk, bluegrass, countrypolitan, Western swing and Sun Records rock & roll (a blazing version of Jerry Lee Lewis' "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On," recorded in one take, when Elvis and producer Felton Jarvis realized they were short of material). His moving version of Willie Nelson's "Funny How Time Slips Away," a song Al Green covered two years later, might be the album's capper but he even throws some soul into Anne Murray.

My Happiness Acetate for sale at Graceland Auction II
Following the highly successful Auction at Graceland during Elvis Week 2014, music fans and pop culture collectors from around the world will once again have the opportunity to own a piece of history with a January 8, 2015 auction surrounding the annual birthday celebration at Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis.
All 68 of the genuine Elvis artifacts from third-party collectors offered in the auction have been thoroughly researched and evaluated by Graceland Authenticated, which sets a new standard for pop culture authentication to ensure pop culture artifact accuracy.
The Auction at Graceland has quickly become the go-to source for authentic Elvis collectibles. Some of the signature items up for bid on January 8, 2015 include:
“My Happiness” Acetate - Considered part of the “Holy Grail” of artifacts in rock ‘n’ roll history, Elvis’ first-ever recording is a 78 mm acetate produced at Memphis Recording Service (home of the Sun Record Company) in June of 1953. Elvis paid $4 USD for what was said to be a gift for his mother. It features the songs “My Happiness” (Side A), which is the only Elvis recording that exists of this song and “That’s When Your Heartaches Begin” (Side B). The Presley family didn’t actually have a record player, so Elvis took the acetate to the home of friend Ed Leek, who did, where he listened to the results of his first studio recording session. Elvis left the acetate behind at the Leek home and never gave it to his mother. This historical 78 acetate was the beginning of a revolution in the music industry and the start of an iconic legend. In private hands since it was created, Elvis’ first recording is being offered for the first time since Elvis walked into that Memphis studio over 60 years ago.
Warhol Image of Elvis Fetches US $81.9 million
Two iconic Andy Warhol paintings of Elvis Presley and Marlon Brando sold for more than US$151 million at auction in New York on Wednesday, shattering pre-sale estimates by several million dollars. Pop-art legend Warhol’s “Triple Elvis” – a 1963 silkscreen depicting three images of the King of Rock and Roll posing as a gunslinging cowboy – sold for US$81.9 million at the Christie’s sale.
The striking seven-foot tall work, derived from a publicity still for the 1960 Don Siegel-directed Western “Flaming Star,” had been estimated to fetch US$60 million. The final sale price topped out at more than US$20 million above the estimate after six minutes of frenzied bidding.

Trash To Jail
Bruno Tillander, author of the trash book "The world knows Elvis Presley – but they don´t know me" in which he falsely claims that Elvis collected Nazi items, may end up in jail, as the website EIN discovered: "Three well-known Swedish musical artists Lotta Engberg, Martin Stenmarck, and Magnus Carlsson plus their booking agent Bruno Tillander have been charged with tax evasion and face up to two years in prison, reports news agency TT. The artists' booking agent Bruno Tillander is also being charged and is suspected of gross accounting violations and serious tax evasion. Tillander faces up to six years in prison and if he is found guilty he would be forced to serve a minimum of 6 months in jail."
In a radio interview, Tillander talks about Elvis's extensive Nazi collection, "but nobody knows where it ended up." One word applies here: B*llsh*t.
ElvisMatters asked Larry Geller if he knew more about the book and the 'Nazi link', here's his swift reply: "Hi Peter, I was asked to write a short piece for Bruno's book. I haven't read it yet. Elvis and the Nazi's? This is pure hyperbole and or fantasy as far as I'm concerned. If Elvis was into that I certainly would have known. Yes, he did have a lot of guns from various countries and cultures. But Nazi objects...something is fishy here!"
Marty Lacker also tells EIN, "I read that story about Tillander's new book and all I can do is shake my head in disbelief at some of that shit he states.
As for Elvis' supposed vast Nazi memorabilia, all I ever saw in 20 years was a Nazi Military officer's hat and a brown overcoat that they were always depicted as wearing in the winter.
First of all, he features two great pillars of truth, Larry Geller and George Klein so I suggest they list this book in the FICTION section. Geller and his far eastern spiritual crap that screwed Elvis' head up and Klein who is a habitual liar. Where do these people get all this bullshit? Anyone who wastes their money on this piece of shit is an idiot."

Record Breaking Bid For Elvis Ring
A collector was so desperate to get this ring in his collection, that he paid no less than 57,600.00 $US dollar for it at the recent Julian's Action in Los Angeles. The oval faceted blue gem stone set in a square 14k gold setting, engraved on the inside of the band “EP” is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Memphis Mafia member Dave Hebler, who explains that Elvis handed him the ring during a performance circa 1973 because it wa falling off of his hand. At the end of the concert Hebler tried to return this and another ring, but Elvis told him to keep them.
