Posted on the late Scotty Moore website is a posting that Mike Leech, member of the The American Sound Studio Band a.k.a. The Memphis Boys, passed away after a long illness on December 12, 2017.
“Sorry to hear and to report of the passing of Mike Leech. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his friends and family. Mike as you all may remember was a member of the Memphis Boys at American Sound. A bassist, arranger, producer and songwriter he started in Memphis and later moved to Nashville.”
Mike Leech was bass player and arranger at the American Sound Studio. The American Sound Studio Band reigned at the time in Memphis, where Reggie Young, Gene Chrisman, Bobby Wood, Bobby Emmon, Mike Leech and Tommy Cowbell played a lot of famous hits like "Sweet Caroline", "Always on My Mind", "Good Time" Charlie's Got The Blues", "Suspicious Minds", "In The Ghetto","Kentucky Rain", and a lot of other hits.
