The Sahara Hotel And Casino, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra's one-time favourite haunt in Las Vegas, is to close after 59 years. The fabled hang-out of the rich and famous announced that it shut its doors in May. The hotel-casino was flooded with guests in 2007 and 2008 after a takeover by club boss Sam Nazarian put the venue back in the headlines, but the recession wiped out the once star-studded resort's good fortunes and the owner has been forced to shut down.
