At the time of his passing, Mark was Associate Professor at the University of Chester in the U.K., his research focus being on popular music and music fandom, with a special interest in Elvis Presley.
Duffett wrote the books 'Elvis - Roots, Image, Comeback, Phenomenon', 'Counting Down Elvis - His 100 Finest Songs' and was working on the book 'Rethinking Elvis' which is still due for release in April 2025.
