The Tupelo Hardware Store announced that it would close their historic, downtown location at 114 W Main Street in Tupelo on December 31, 2025.
More than just a hardware store, Tupelo Hardware stands as a cornerstone of Elvis Presley history. It was here, on January 8, 1946, Elvis’ 11th birthday, that his mother Gladys Presley purchased her son his very first guitar for US$7.75. A simple moment that helped shape Elvis and music history forever.
