The Nation's Favourite

Sony Music released "The Nation's Favourite Elvis Songs" single and double CD sets. The Nation's Favourite... is a British documentary series, celebrating music by a particular artist. Since the show began in 2010 it has been narrated by various TV stars including Liza Tarbuck, Fearne Cotton, Amanda Holden and Kate
Thornton.

The Elvis show will broadcast at the English TV station ITV on November 8, 2013, with guest appearances including Michael Bublé, Cliff Richard and Darlene Love who all talk about their favorite picks. Priscilla Presley reminisces on
each song, what they meant to Elvis and how he touched the world with his music. The songs were chosen by voting in various British newspapers.

Burger... King

The home of The King .. could become the home of the Whopper ... The news team of TMZ has learned that BK has made a serious offer on Elvis Presley's former Beverly Hills home. TMZ obtained a letter from Burger King Corp. to Peter Morton -- who owns the 5,367 square foot Elvis Presley Estate in the 90210 -- which states the company's intention to buy the house for a cool $3.69 million. The letter reads, "This would be a fast closing within three days and we would be happy to provide you with proof of funds upon request."

BK says if Morton agrees to the sale, the company will "preserve all residential historical value." Buuuut, there are a few problems -- first, the house isn't really on the market.

Second, Morton bought the house back in December for $9.8 mil ... and there's virtually no chance he's willing to take a $6 million hit on the place. Sidenote -- the timing of the offer is interesting, 'cause it happens to coincide with the launch of BK's new sandwich, the Big King (Big King ... King of Rock 'n Roll ... we get it).

Rihanna Tied With Elvis in UK and US

Rihanna didn't just break a record with her latest Eminem collaboration- she broke through a glass ceiling! The Monster is officially number one in the UK, making it Rihanna's eighth time topping the British charts. More importantly, it marks the seventh straight year that Rihanna has scored a number one hit. Rihanna is only the third act to Stay on such a consistent run, and the first woman in history! The only other artists to have accomplished such a feat? Elvis Presley and The Beatles!

And in the US

Perhaps lost in yesterday's bevy of chart feats by Eminem, who this week becomes the first lead artist to land four concurrent top 20 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 since the Beatles in 1964, is that Rihanna tallies her 25th top 10, matching the sum totaled by Elvis Presley. Thus, "The Monster" is proving aptly titled, as its debut at No. 3 has surfaced narratives between Eminem and the Beatles and Rihanna and the King of Rock and Roll.

Upon the collaboration's bow, here's an updated look at the acts with the most Hot 100 top 10s:

38 -- Madonna
34 -- the Beatles
28 -- Michael Jackson
28 -- Stevie Wonder
27 -- Mariah Carey
27 -- Janet Jackson
27 -- Elton John
25 -- Elvis Presley
25 -- Rihanna
23 -- Whitney Houston

23 -- the Rolling Stones

November 01 - His Hand In My Corner

Due from Speakers Corner is a vinyl re-issue of the classis "His Hand In Mine" LP (RCA LSP-2328) by Elvis Presley and The Jordanaires. The LP, (33 rpm) is due November 29, 2013.

From the site:
Almost everyone loves gospel songs. After all – it is inspirational music about good news and hope and warms the heart without demanding religious belief. But what in God’s name makes these songs so enjoyable? Why are they music to one’s ears? Is it because of the simple yet unique melodies, the soft or rocking grooves, or the prayer wheel-like verses that are sung alternately by a soloist and chorus? Elvis fans might well be able to answer this question just by taking a quick look at the cover, while other more undiscerning lovers of black folk spirituality would say that this is a well-produced, professional album that cannot be equalled.
Elvis lets his young, flexible voice swing sonorously here, lightly and airily there, all the while supported by a top-notch vocal backing group. The rich vocal harmonies are sung with true passion, and it is certainly no coincidence that one is reminded of the sound of the Golden Gate Quartet. In one moment the voices soar to celestial heights, in another they plunge down to a deep rumbling bass, not to forget the soft and springy rhythm section. For John Bush (allmusic.com), »this LP isn’t just one of Elvis’ best LPs, it’s one of the best (and best-recorded) gospel sessions of all time.«

Original recording: October 1960 at RCA Studio B in Nashville, Tennessee
Original production: Steve Sholes
