According to the certificate of guitarist John Wilkinson he gave Elvis this guitar about 30 minutes before his very last show on June 26, 1977, prior to what Elvis' last concert would be. John Wilkinson was Elvis' rhythm guitar player in the TCB Band from 1969 until 1977.
The instrument has beautiful abalone and mother of pearl around the sound hole and around the edges of the body. It has the famous TCB logo on the peg head and 'Elvis Presley' spelled out on the finger board, all this in abalone and mother of pearl. The instrument was built in 1974 by the Gallagher Guitar Company of Wartrace, TN.
You can still see the scratches on the back from Elvis' show belt from when he strapped the guitar on for the one and only time. Elvis thanked John for this special gift and asked if John could keep it for him, in case he would like to use it later. This was June 26, 1977, unfortunately there was never another concert. Elvis died on August 16, 1977. Elvis Presley passed away less then two months later, on August 16, 1977.
