AACTA Awards
The 2022 Australian Film and Television Academy of Arts (AACTA) Awards celebrated the country's film and television industry. Baz Luhrmann’s film 'ELVIS' was the biggest winner of the night, taking home four awards for Best Film, Best Direction in Film (Baz Luhrmann), Best Lead Actor (Austin Butler), and Best Supporting Actress in Film (Olivia DeJonge), bringing the movie's total AACTA Award count to 11 after winning seven gongs at the AACTA Industry Awards on Monday.
Catherine Martin, 57, was recognised for her incredible work on the film Elvis, receiving several awards for production design Best Costume Design in Film, Award for Best Film and Award for Best Production Design in Film for her work on Elvis. The film designer was also honoured for her outstanding global contribution and influence to film with the prestigious Longford Lyell Award.
The film’s cinematographer Mandy Walker made history as the first woman to have ever won Best Cinematography at either the AACTAs or the AFIs – receiving a standing ovation from the room.
