November 13 - Summer Cadillac Auction

At the Bonhams auction a Cadillac limousine originally owned by Elvis Presley went up for sale. The new owner paid 172,000 $US for the car, including the Buyer's Premium.

Background: This well documented car was purchased by the King in January of 1956 and immediately repainted Black. He may have died a very rich man, but in '56 Elvis still needed his father to co-sign on the car.

Unlike many older Cadillacs that head to auction with questionable Elvis ties, this Limo is a well documented car with clear proof it was owned by Presley.  Shortly after The King became a star, he developed a penchant for buying Cadillacs, the 1955 limo up for auction is one of his first. Pre-sale estimates have it fetching up to $150,000. "It was the car that they used to pile the band in and drive around the Memphis area to play gigs," said Smith from Bonhams.
