Singer, songwriter and actor Mac Davis will be honored as a BMI Icon during the 2015 BMI Country Awards, which will be held on November 3, 2015 in Nashville.
According to the BMI website, the Icon Award is given to songwriters who have had a “unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers.” Davis, who had hits on both the pop and country charts, will join a distinguished list of Icon recipients that includes Dolly Parton, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard and several others.
Davis, a member of both the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the national Songwriters Hall of Fame, wrote or co-wrote several songs recorded by Elvis Presley, including “In the Ghetto,” “Memories,” “Don’t Cry Daddy” and “A Little Less Conversation.”

Heartbreak Hotel Torn Down
Elvis Presley Enterprises plans to revitalize the area surrounding Graceland, and tonight residents in that Whitehaven community got to take a sneak peek at what the future holds.
At the meeting, residents gathered to listen to the President and CEO of Elvis Presley Enterprises, Jack Soden. Diagrams outlined what is to come on the west side of Elvis Presley Blvd. Gone are the days of old and tired facilities. In their place will be brand new, state-of-the-art buildings that will include a soundstage, a car museum and two restaurants.
FOX13 learned tonight the Heartbreak Hotel will be knocked down. In its place, more parking will be added.
