November 05 - (P)Review of Elvis Back In Nashville Set

The Uncut Magazine featured the first review of the 'Elvis Back In Nashville' 4-CD / 2-LP set, which is due November 12, 2021.

Uncut Review: "The King's final recordings in the country music capital"

Elvis Presley was more ambitious than his late career output might suggest. During his 1971 sessions in Nashville, he cut tracks for his dream project: a folk-rock record featuring songs by Buffy Sainte-Marie, Kris Kristofferson and others. Sadly, it never saw the light of day, and tracks from those sessions were scattered across cookie-cutter collections throughout the'70s.

'Elvis Back In Nashville' collects those recordings in one place, showcasing his stylistic range (gospel, carols, standards... you name it) and offering a glimpse of what might have been.

Despite being sold as a nostalgia act, Elvis was absolutely devoted to whatever he song he was singing. He immersed himself in the story and invested each line with nuance and character, whether it's the casually funky "Put Your Hand In The Hand" or the delicate "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" (recorded while he had the flu).

Box-Set rates 8/10.
Extras: 6/10. Archival photos and liner notes by David Cantwell.

On the >>> Plato on-line store website you can already hear 30 seconds previews of all songs.

The Danish Memphis Mansion was lucky enough to already receive the album. You can watch an unboxing of the LP on their >>> Facebook page.

Elvis Now

The Dutch Music on Vinyl record label announced the December 12, 2021 re-release of Elvis’ 1972 album ‘Elvis Now’.

Publicity stated: The legend Elvis Presley recorded his sixteenth album ‘Elvis Now’ during different sessions between 1969 and 1971. The single ‘Until It's Time for You to Go’ / ‘We Can Make The Morning’ reached the charts in the U.S. and U.K., while ‘Sylvia’ became a hit for Elvis in Brazil. His cover of the Beatles hit ‘Hey Jude’ was a leftover from a recording session in Memphis in early 1969. It's a mix of rockers, ballads, and gospel songs. It's a mix of the different music styles which Presley performed during his lifetime.

Side A: Help Me Make It Through The Night / Miracle Of The Rosary / Hey Jude / Put Your Hand In The Hand / Until It's Time For You To Go.

Side B: We Can Make The Morning / Early Morning Rain / Sylvia / Fools Rush In (Where Angels Fear To Tread) / I Was Born About Ten Thousand Years.

Elvis '72 Summer Festival

Elvis author Kieran Davis published a reprint of his 2019 book, 'Elvis ‘72 Summer Festival'. The book includes contributions by Rex Martin, Todd Slaughter and Peggy Elzea. Strong book design and printed on quality paper stock.

Synopsis: Originally released in 2019, The Elvis Information Network recorded a short review of the 154 page book: "Elvis’ Summer Festival at the Las Vegas Hilton was his longest engagement in the desert city, with 64 shows performed during the month.

He was fit, tanned and healthy. Prolific Elvis photo-journal publisher, Kieran Davis, provides another visually appealing volume rich in detail and archival artifacts.

A highlight is some terrific color shots of Elvis on stage and a close-up image of the cape accompanying his light blue embroidered suit".

Two more of our books will soon be available in reprint form for those that missed them the first time round. To make both of these books available in the most cost effective manner for a very short print run (50 copies) both books have now been combined under a single cover. If you have both of the old versions of these books you do not need this one as the contents are identical, they have simply been printed in a single volume. If you missed out on either volume now is a chance to reserve a copy.

As the title suggests, the book covers in detail Elvis' tour of October 1976, with a special focus on the show in Champaign, for which there are approximately 100 previously unpublished black and white images.

There are numerous reviews, personal stories, images of memorabilia and Elvis on stage, plus glimpses into the internal workings of the Elvis Presley Show, life in the box office and more. All of which are incorporated into an extensive narrative on  300 pages and hardbound.

This book is currently at the printers, but print times have increased due to the global supply chain delays. We are expecting this book within the next 6 to 8 weeks.
