September 04 - Sold!

GWS Auctions, specializing in entertainment memorabilia, royal artifacts and fine jewelry, sold Elvis Presley's iconic Eyelet jumpsuit for US$637,500 (incl. 25% auction costs). The cape was sold separately and fetched US$375,000. On total the set topped the US$1,000,000 mark at US$1,012,500, with the auction house reporting it as a world record price, albeit without noting any details on what record it beat.

Presley wore the suit during his legendary 1972 concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The Eyelet Jumpsuit has been in a collection for more than 30 years and has not been offered for sale since. The jumpsuit was made by Bill Belew, who is famous for creating some of Elvis’s most iconic wardrobe.
