Ray Connolly's 'Being Elvis: A Lonely Life' book was re-issued in Spanish as 'Ser Elvis' in a translation by Ana Pérez Galván.
Description: In 'Being Elvis' veteran rock journalist Ray Connolly takes a fresh look at the career of the world's most loved singer, placing him, forty years after his death, not exhaustively in the garish neon lights of Las Vegas but back in his mid-twentieth-century, distinctly southern world.
Historical Marker
Elvis fans, spearheaded by The Circle G Foundation, have united to sponsor a new State Historical Marker for Elvis’ former Circle G Ranch. It officially commemorates Elvis’ time at the Circle G and his link with the City of Horn Lake.
The Historic Marker was sited with the assistance and permission of the State of Mississippi.
Elvis purchased the ranch in February 1967 and owned it until 1972. Although a relatively short period of time, he purchased it at a very significant period in his life as a newly married man, an expectant father and approaching a life changing crossroads in his career.
Elvis found tranquility at the ranch and a place to escape from the pressures of ‘being Elvis Presley’. Priscilla Presley is quoted as saying she believes he “found peace there”.
