La Vraie Histoire
Piggybacking on the release of the 'ELVIS' biopic, the French Les Editeurs Reunis re-issued Kathleen Tracy's 272-page biography '...' as 'Elvis, La Vraie Histoire' on May 25, 2022. The original English edition was release as 'Elvis Presley: A Biography' in 2006.
But beyond the glitter and eccentricities often commented on in the press, little is known about the hellish life that the singer led and that shortened his career. This is why this book moves away from the traditional clichés by presenting the human aspect of the king of rock and roll. It reveals disturbing confidences about the idol and elucidates questions for which the public had never had answers.
It realistically evokes the childhood of the star, in conditions of great poverty; his beginnings and his tours in bad places; his unhealthy fixation on his mother; his vertiginous rise and his daily life of destructive debauchery; the gilded cage that he inflicted on Priscilla, his too young fiancée, whom he believed to be the reincarnation of his dear mother; the despotic domination to which his unscrupulous but brilliant manager subjected him.

'ELVIS' first hit theaters on June 24th, following its premiere at the Cannes International Film Festival. It is the 10th-highest-grossing movie of the year in North America and the highest-grossing movie that isn't part of an established intellectual property. It is also the 11th highest-grossing movie in the world so far this year.
Elvis' success made it possible for it to be the first Warner Bros. movie of 2022 not released on HBO Max within 45 days of its theatrical release.
