March 17 - Agent Elvis

Netflix’s new animated series 'Agent Elvis' debuted on the digital streaming platform. This adult animation series, co-created by Priscilla Presley, depicts the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll pulling double duty as a singer by day and a secret government agent battling dark forces by night. His sidekick is a psychotic chimp that beats bad guys to death while tripping on LSD. 

Agent Elvis works for The Central Bureau, AKA TCB, a morally ambiguous secret organization that has been “quietly shaping history” for centuries. Their mission, and Elvis’s, is to “infiltrate, instigate, appropriate and fumigate to keep America safe”. Matthew McConaughey voices the King, foul-mouthed and with a Texas drawl.

Accompanying the animated series is a musical soundtrack composed by Tyler Bates and Timothy Williams. Intertwining iconic Elvis Presley syncs such as 'Viva Las Vegas' and 'If I Can Dream' is a score with a rock-tinged surfer vibe and plenty of guitar to underscore the action.

Says Bates, “‘Agent Elvis’ is such an amazingly hilarious show that Tim and I had to tamp down our laughter in order to work on the score, which is a musical odyssey unlike any I have previously encountered.” The soundtrack also features a special cover of Chuck Berry’s blues standard 'Memphis, Tennessee' performed by Craig Robinson.
