And finally due in the jewelry series is the 198-page paperback 'Elvis Watches'. The 'Houston 1970' book is available, the other titles are on pre-order. More information when available.

Synopsis 'Elvis Watches': Elvis liked expensive things: cars, motorcycles, clothes, jewelry, and watches. His watches befitted a king. Some were given to him, such as the 18 karat white gold and diamond Tiffany Omega wristwatch RCA gave him on February 25, 1961 to commemorate the sale of 75 million records around the world reached in 1960.

On another occasion, Elvis received an 18 karat solid gold Midas Rolex watch from the Houston Livestock and Rodeo Officers, March 1st, 1970. It was Rolex’s most expensive production at that time, retailing for US$2,500.

As with other items belonging to him, Elvis gave away some of them, regardless of their value. I often wondered why Elvis was giving away so many of his things. Yes, he was rich. He had everything he could want. But plenty of well-to-do people do not give anything away. As a matter of fact, for some enough is never enough. So I remained puzzled....

This book looks at the watches Elvis owned at one time, in all probability only a fraction. Several, particularly the ones he gave away, have appeared at auctions, offering us the opportunity to admire them. Some are truly one of a kind and gorgeous.

The book can be ordered directly from the author (pbelard@hotmail.com) or via Amazon.
