Sofia Coppola’s upcoming biopic on Priscilla Presley is gearing up for it's October 2023 release as it unveiled its first look for fans. Jacob Elordi shared the movie poster for the upcoming A24 movie, simply titled 'Priscilla'.
It's arrival comes almost a year to the day after the June 24 release of "Elvis," which earned Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Director (Baz Luhrmann) and Best Actor (Austin Butler), and collected US$289 million at the worldwide box office, making it the most popular film of 2022 without the presence of a Minion, dinosaur, superhero or Tom Cruise.
In the dreamy first look, Spaeny is seemingly dressed in a lacey cream-coloured wedding gown, as there is a glimpse of a tiara peeking through. By the looks of the image, the actors are recreating Priscilla and Elvis’ first kiss after tying the knot, as Spaeny cups Elordi’s face with closed eyes, while he leans in.
Synopsis: 'Priscilla' is an upcoming American biographical film written and directed by Sofia Coppola who has previously directed films such as 'Lost in Translation' and 'The Virgin Suicides'.
The romantic film will showcase the relationship between one of the iconic King of Rock and Roll and the love of his life. Priscilla will allow audiences to understand the bond that inspired some of Elvis’ most recognisable songs, establishing a loving atmosphere when he shared his talent with the world while thinking about the person he cared about the most.
It is based on Priscilla Presley's memoir 'Elvis and Me', and follows her life and relationship with Elvis Presley. Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi star as Priscilla and Elvis, respectively.
Priscilla posted on Facebook: "I am excited about the interpretation of my book by the masterful Sofia Coppola. She has such an extraordinary perspective and I have always been such an admirer of her work. I’m certain this movie will take everyone on an emotional journey."
According to TMZ multiple officials connected to the estate say that the film was produced without the Estate's knowledge or consent ... and they're ripping it as another Priscilla money grab. One Estate official who saw the film describes Coppla's writing and directing as "horrible", adding "It feels like a college movie. The set designs are just horrific, it's not what Graceland looks like."
The official trailer was released June 21st.
The 45-second montage-style trailer sets the mood with lots of visuals, including a shag rug, thick eyeliner, red nails, piano playing and a lot of hairspray.
