Forbes noted the return of various old rockers to the charts too. They noted that Elvis Presley returned to the charts with 2 simultaneous hits on 1 Billboard chart
"What do Elvis Presley, Paul McCartney, and The Eagles all have in common? A lot, actually, but this week, they all manage a feat at the same time. All three artists - and a few others - return to the same Billboard chart this frame as the allure of the approaching Christmas holiday brings some of their cuts back to prominence.
All three legends are back on the Rock Streaming Songs chart this week. The tally, published by Billboard, lists the tracks labeled as rock by the company- with that genre distinction being somewhat subjective - that rack up the most plays on platforms like Spotify and AppleAAPL +0.7% Music in the U.S.
The highest-ranking of the bunch of returning hits comes from Elvis Presley. The King’s 'Blue Christmas' is one of the most beloved holiday tunes in America, and it isn’t surprising that it has picked up in streams in the past week or so. It’s the highest-charting tune that wasn’t present on the list last frame- coming in at No. 6 - and it will likely climb in the coming frames. 'Blue Christmas' previously peaked at No. 1.
Elvis Presley is no stranger to commercial success, nor to having his name appear on the Billboard charts. While he may be one of the most successful musical stars of all time, the fact that he still works his way back to the weekly rankings from time to time is impressive, considering how long he’s been gone. This week, the late musician lands not one, but two hits on one Billboard chart, proving his continued popularity once again.
The Classic Christmas Album, featuring some of Presley's timeless holiday hits, makes a notable debut on the latest Top Streaming Albums chart. The set starts at No. 45 on the 50-spot tally, which ranks the most-streamed full collections in the U.S. each week.
The entry marks a historic moment as Presley reaches the Top Streaming Albums chart for the first time in his illustrious career. Even decades after his passing, the iconic singer continues to make new appearances on Billboard tallies, showcasing the enduring popularity of his music.
It's not surprising that Presley has only now entered the Top Streaming Albums chart, given that his prolific career predates not only streaming platforms but also the internet itself. Additionally, Billboard introduced this particular ranking only recently, making it a fitting opportunity for the late legend's inclusion.
Presley claims a pair of spots on this week’s Rock Streaming Songs chart. The ranking lists the most-streamed tunes in the U.S. that Billboard labels as rock, which is a genre descriptor that’s a bit subjective at this point. Presley fills 8% of all the spaces on the tally this time around.
Presley’s highest-ranking hit on this week’s Rock Streaming Songs chart is 'Blue Christmas'. The track bolts from No. 6 to the runner-up rung. The seasonal favorite has previously reached No. 1.
'Blue Christmas' was held back from running the show by Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves’ 'I Remember Everything'. That tune has ruled over the Rock Streaming Songs chart for 14 weeks, and it may prevent Presley from returning to the summit throughout the season, as it remains an incredibly popular smash at the moment.
Further down on the ranking comes 'Here Comes Santa Claus'. The track returns to the Rock Streaming Songs chart at No. 24, barely breaking onto the 25-spot list. The cut has previously risen as high as No. 4.
Meanwhile Brenda Lee merrily danced to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart with her holiday classic 'Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree'. The song rewrites multiple records as it tops the chart for the first time - 65 years after its release. Lee, meanwhile, adds her third No. 1 - and her first since 1960.
What 13 songs kept Lee’s 'Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree' from No. 1 when it originally peaked at No. 14 on the December 26, 1960 Hot 100 chart? It was Elvis Presley's 'Are You Lonesome To-night?'.
