August 03 - Charts August 2024 - Week 1

Elvis Presley dropped off most charts the past 2 to 3 weeks. A little spark of hope is the re-entry of the 'ELV1S 30 #1 Hits' compilation on Billboard's main album list.

Official U.K. charts:
  • Official Album chart: 'ELV1S 30 #1 Hits' climbed from #60 to #50.
  • Official Streaming Album chart: 'ELV1S 30 #1 Hits' climbed from #50 to #43.
  • Official Music DVD chart: 'Elvis The Searcher' dropped from #6 to #16.

Irish IRMA charts:
  • Official Irish Album chart: 'ELV1S 30#1 Hits' dropped from #77 to #87.
  • Official Irish Video chart: 'Priscilla' dropped off the chart after last week's re-entry at #43.

Billboard charts:

  • Billboard Top 200 Album chart: 'ELV1S 30 #1 Hits' made a re-entry at #198.
  • Billboard Top Country Album chart: 'ELV1S 30 #1 Hits' remained steady at #38.

Hugh McIntyre noted for Forbes: Elvis Presley enjoyed incredible success on the Billboard 200 during his lifetime. The singer-songwriter managed some truly remarkable feats on Billboard’s main albums ranking, and his winning streak has continued in the decades since his passing.

This week, Presley’s longest-charting album in the U.S. is back. The set never disappears for very long, as millions across the country don’t ever stop streaming and buying his biggest hits, and all that listening and consuming keeps one specific compilation charting. The album was originally released more than two decades ago

'ELV1S 30 #1 Hits' reappears on the Billboard 200 this week. The greatest hits set blasts onto the competitive tally at No. 198. The list only features 200 spaces, so the King narrowly manages to find his way back.

In the past tracking frame, 'ELV1S 30 #1 Hits' moved just under 8,100 equivalent units in the U.S. That number comes from Luminate, the company that collects sales and streaming data and feeds it to Billboard, which then compiles the weekly charts.

Streaming activity is largely responsible for Presley’s continued success on the Billboard 200. During the last tracking period, 'ELV1S 30 #1 Hits' only sold about 700 copies. That’s a sizable sum for a years-old collection, but it is still just a fraction of the title’s total number of units moved.

'ELV1S 30 #1 Hits' has now spent 204 weeks somewhere on the Billboard 200. In the next few weeks–or possibly months–the title will likely become Presley’s first to reach four full years on the ranking. It has stood out as the legend’s longest-running win on the tally for some time, and it’s his only project to manage at least 200 frames on the list.
