Artifacts of Hollywood & Music Auction

GWS Auctions has another Artifacts of Hollywood & Music Auction which features many Elvis Presley items. GWS Auctions has listed fake items in the past, so buyer be aware.

Next to the usual memorabilia, the interesting items are Elvis' Madison Square Garden Eyelet Jumpsuit (est. US$350,000) and Cape (US$25,000) 'Speedway' racing suit and helmet, his 'Frankie and Johnny' Tuxedo Tailcoat and his 'Live a Little, Love a Little' Silk Suit.

Description Suit:

Elvis Presley's Stage Worn Madison Square Garden Eyelet Jumpsuit W/COA - This iconic studded jumpsuit is a once in a lifetime chance to own a piece of Elvis Presley, and a monumental part of the King's first live concerts in New York since he began his career in the 1950s.

This jumpsuit was worn by Elvis during his 1972 engagement at Madison Square Garden in New York City, a series of four performances which took place from June 9th to 11th. It is said that the fact that Elvis had not been well received in the Big Apple during his early career caused some worry between his team, however these worries were unfounded, as the series turned out to be extremely successful and Elvis became the first person to sell out four consecutive shows at the venue.

This jumpsuit comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Elvis Presley museum signed by Jimmy Velvet, which states in part, "Elvis Presley's Stage Jumpsuit, worn at the Madison Square Garden Concert". This jumpsuit was previously sold at auction in 1995 and has not been offered to the public since. There is arguably nothing more synonymous with the King of Rock and Roll than his famous jumpsuits, and very few become available on the open market. The jumpsuit will also come with a copy of the previous purchase invoice (redacted).

Description helmet:

Elvis Presley's "Viva Las Vegas" Racing Helmet W/COA From Billy Smith - This black and red striped racing helmet was worn by Elvis Presley during the filming of the 1964 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, Viva Las Vegas.

The film is regarded by fans and film critics as one of Presley's best films, and it is noted for the on-screen chemistry between Presley and Ann-Margret. Viva Las Vegas was a hit at film theaters, and was #14 on the Variety year end box office list of the top-grossing films of 1964.

The helmet has a red stripe down the middle and a lightening bolt on either side with white lettering reading "Lucky", Elvis Presley's character's name in the film. The helmet comes with a certificate of authenticity from the Elvis Presley Museum, signed by Elvis' first cousin Billy Smith. The helmet was previously sold at auction in 1995, and has not been offered to the public since. The helmet retains the original lot tag and will also come with a copy of the auction catalog page.
