October 13 - We Aim to Raroplu

Elvis graces the cover of the Italian music Raroplu culture and music magazine with inside an article on Elvis 1962 - 1964 discography.

From the magazine's website
: Colonel Parker continued to steer Elvis’s career, adept at generating revenue from both films and records by targeting an audience seemingly accustomed to buying anything bearing the name of the "King of Rock 'n' Roll." This magic formula proved successful until 1964, when the arrival of the Beatles and the "British Invasion" radically shifted the tastes of the new generation.

By this time, Elvis was living in Hollywood, tirelessly shooting films in increasingly picturesque, postcard-worthy locations; alongside the soundstages were the recording studios where he would quickly cut the accompanying soundtracks. It was a lucrative arrangement for both the Colonel and Elvis, with the latter receiving half a million dollars per film plus a percentage of the box-office receipts. Presley continued to record hit songs, and the Italian market flourished during these early 1960s, seeing the release of numerous records that celebrated a phase of the singer-actor's career defined more by commercialism than by artistic merit.
