Elvis is back, back on top of the charts! Baz Luhrmann's biopic did the trick for our man. Elvis Presley's 'ELV1S 30 #1 Hits' tops the Catalog chart with a 37 to 1 jump; it is No. 1 for the second time, the first being in 2005. It gains the Top 10 of the Catalog chart for the first time since September 2008, and only the ninth week overall.
The charts also show that some of the new entries from last week dropped a few places too.
Director Baz Luhrmann’s biopic of Elvis Presley, the ostentatious and over-the-top Elvis, added US$11 million at the domestic box office in its third weekend of release, and another US$8.7 million from overseas territories to take its global haul to US$155.1 million. This is a solid performance by the lengthy adult-skewing drama, reportedly budgeted at US$85 million.
