February 08 - Burt Bacharach Died

American Oscar and Emmy Award winning composer, songwriter, record producer, and pianist Burt Bacharach died. He was 94.

Elvis Presley recorded his composition 'Any Day Now' (co-written with and Bob Hilliard in 1962) on February 20, 1969 at American Sound Studio, Memphis, Tennessee.

Although not released as a single in its own right, the song appeared as the B-side to Presley's No. 3 U.S. pop hit 'In the Ghetto', which was released as a single on April 15, 1969. The song also appeared on his acclaimed 1969 album 'From Elvis in Memphis'.

In 2022 the son was featured on the 'ELVIS' movie soundtrack album, the song itself and as a remix by PNAU retitled to 'Don't Fly Away'.

Note: Chuck Jackson, who released the original version of 'Any Day Now' in 1962, passed away February 16, 2023 aged 85.

Phil Gelormine in Hospice Care

Phil Gelormine's partner Debbie posted the sad message below on Facebook.

Dearest Facebook Friends of Phil,

The Gal here, on behalf of The Guy…

Since Phil’s cancer diagnosis last May, our lives have been a mix of scary times, hopeful times, challenging times, but most of all happy times, especially this past holiday season.

Unfortunately, during this past month, the cancer has progressed to the point that Phil is now in hospice care. He is free from pain and resting comfortably.

Please pray for our Phil. I will be reading your replies to him. My sincere apologies to all I would have wanted to reach out to in a more personal way - time simply would not allow it. Please know we both value the many friendships we have shared, whether ”live” or just on Facebook.

Love to you all,

Debbie.

Please keep Phil in you thoughts and prayers. Let's hope that the great foreword he wrote for my 'Elvis Day By Day 2022' book was not his last piece of work.
