August 16 2022 - 45 Years Have Passed

Today fans around the world mark the 45th anniversary of Elvis' passing and honor the man, the star, the icon - the King of Rock 'n' Roll! 45 years have passed already since that dreadful day in 1977.

Fortunately, Elvis is very much alive in 2022 topping the box-office with a great biopic, topping the charts in the U.K. and U.S. with the the movie's soundtrack. And in December, we get 'Elvis On Tour' as a 6-CD  / 1-Blu-ray set.

Gone too soon, gone too long.

Each fan will morn the King is his own way, alone, together with friends and fans. Some lucky ones gathered at the annual Candlelight Vigil on August 15 and quietly remembered our man, his life and his achievements.

Elvis Forever - 45 Years On

Piers Beagley wrote a great Spotlight article on >>> The Elvis Information Network website titled 'Elvis Forever - 45 Years On'. In the article Piers looks back  - with the help of Lenny Kaye's new book 'Lightning Striking' - at the facts and feelings of Elvis' great legacy and all too early passing.

Elvis A Prayer

On the >>> FECC Forum member Scoobie wrote a fitting prayer:

Dear Elvis…

Thank you for your wonderful voice.

Thank you for your extraordinary performances.

Thank you for your kindness to others.

Thank you for the love you showed your fans.

Thank you for enduring those things that caused you pain, frustration and disappointment.

Thank you for movies and TV performances you left us to watch.

Thank you for your humanity.

God, thank you for Elvis, and the talent and strength you gave him.

Note from the Elvis Information Network: At the Candlelight Vigil presentation unfortunately Priscilla told the crowd, “Today is Elvis’ 45th Birthday and here we are celebrating, all of us together tonight”.

Linda Thompson on Facebook agreed and noted: “August 16th commemorates the 45th anniversary of Elvis‘s passing. It is a day of remembrance, not celebration."

Let's hope all is well with her.

A Bizarre Speech

Priscilla Presley gave a "bizarre" speech during the Candlelight Vigil. She asked a crowd of emotional Elvis fans to wish the late singer a "happy birthday" at the beginning of a solemn candlelight vigil to commemorate the anniversary of his death - not his birth - outside of Graceland.

The frail-sounding 77-year-old, who was married to Elvis for six years, sparked bewilderment and a smattering of heckles when she confused the annual ceremony for the King's birthday, which was over seven months ago.

August 13 - TV Special Elvis, Steve and Ron

Steve Binder announced the 2023 release of a new documentary on Elvis Presley’s electrifying ’68 Comeback Special.

By 1968, Elvis Presley had gone from America's biggest musical act, the man whose swiveling hips set many young girls' hearts aflame, to a has-been with a floundering career. But that all changed when, on December 3, 1968, Elvis performed in a television special that would go on to cement his status as The King. And to celebrate the life of a musician whose life and legend has recently been subject to overwhelming public interest, Steve Binder, the man behind the original special is helping to create a new documentary to be titled 'Elvis & Steve: The Making of the '68 Comeback Special'.

The new special will explore the crucial event from a perspective not often available to documentarians, as Binder was, in fact, the director of the 1968 special. He is also, in part, the subject, as he explains how the critical pop culture event came to be.

Publicity stated: Hot on the heels of the success of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, the third-highest grossing music biopic since the 1970s, Steve Binder, the Emmy-winning director of Elvis Presley’s electrifying ’68 Comeback Special, is producing a documentary about the experience.

'Elvis & Steve: The Making of the ’68 Comeback Special' will delve into the behind-the-scenes drama that seemed to loom over almost every frame of the NBC program that catapulted Presley back into people’s homes and hearts.

Of the project Binder said,“over the last half-century, there’s been so much written and created about Elvis." He continued, "but when it comes to the 1968 special, I’m truly the only one who can tell the behind-the-scenes story of how it came to be – because I’m the only one who was actually there for all that happened.”

Binder and his Rodan Productions have begun pre-production on the 2023 documentary that will celebrate the 55th anniversary of the show. “I’m truly the only one who can tell the behind-the-scenes story of how it came to be – because I’m the only one who was actually there for all that happened,” says Binder, 89.

Even in a brief conversation, it’s clear that Binder, who directed the rock n’ roll film The T.A.M.I. Show, as well as Diana Ross Live At Central Park, Olivia Newton John’s 1978 special Olivia and the groundbreaking 1968 special Petula, which controversially featured Petula Clark with Harry Belafonte, has total recall of his time with Presley and his near constant battles with Presley’s manager Colonel Tom Parker from day one.

“The first meeting was a disaster because the first thing [Parker] said was, ‘We’ve already decided on what the special is going to be. NBC agrees with me and the sponsor agrees with me and we’re going to do a 20-song Christmas special,’” Binder says.

Presley had focused on movies since he’d gotten out of the Army in 1960, and Binder knew the special needed to show Presley’s legendary stage charisma and range instead of turn in a sedate holiday croon-fest like Andy Williams or Perry Como would make.

As he and Parker butted heads, Binder says he couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t fired, and didn’t find out until years later that Presley had his back. “I never knew until Priscilla [Presley] told me after Elvis had passed away that after the first meeting that I had with Elvis, he came home and told Priscilla, ‘I don’t care what the Colonel says. I got a gut feeling I’m going with this guy Binder. I just have a feeling that he might be the right guy for me.’”

Presley was right. The special, which featured the star performing in a variety of styles and settings and birthed the acoustic “unplugged” concept, drew a now unimaginable 42% of the viewing audience when it aired on Dec. 3, 1968.

Binder continued, explaining the importance of the subject, and of his own relationship to Elvis saying, “this new documentary will take viewers behind the scenes into the making of the special, and the close bond I developed with Elvis – and the courage and strength he found to defy Col. Tom Parker and take his career into a totally different direction, none of which would have been possible without the special." He continued, “my documentary 'Elvis & Steve' will show the immense drama and enormous passion that went into the making of the special."

Binder chronicled much of the stories that will be in the documentary in his 2018 coffee table book Elvis ’68 Comeback: The Story Behind the Special. The book was re-issued in 2021 with an introduction by Luhrmann. Binder, who served as a creative consultant on Elvis, is portrayed in Luhrmann’s movie by Australian actor Dacre Montgomery, and the scenes about the special are considered some of the film’s most riveting.

Since its June 24 release, Elvis has grossed more than US$136 million in the U.S. and Canada, according to boxofficemojo.com, putting it only behind 2018’s Bohemian Rhapsody and 2015’s Straight Outta Compton. It has revived interest in Presley and introduced him to a new generation.

Binder says at this point, Luhrmann is involved in the documentary “only as a friend and a consultant,” but that “he certainly has an offer from me to join in any capacity that he would even consider.”

Binder expects to announce a director and distributor soon, and has enlisted Spencer Proffer, whose acclaimed documentary 'The Day the Music Died: The Story of Don McLean’s ‘American Pie'', is airing on Paramount +, to help produce.

“I’m proud to continue my decades-long professional and personal association with Steve Binder — one of the most innovative creators in entertainment,” Proffer says. “Steve broke molds, thought outside the box, and lived in relentless pursuit of making electrifying, bar-raising magic on the television screen. And now, in revisiting one of his more stunning achievements — the making of the Elvis comeback special — Steve opens the vault to share a buddy story that is revealing, poignant, and an explosive time capsule that offers a new perspective on the inner workings of Elvis, Colonel Parker and a director who took risks and made history in the process.”

The documentary will place in context how vital the ’68 Special was to Presley’s career by, in part, showing the status of his career leading up to the special. “Right now I’m digging for permission to use footage from his movies and so forth that use as an exclamation point what his life was like from the time he went into the Army in Germany to coming make and working in movies,” he says.

When asked if the Presley estate is cooperating with the documentary, Binder says it’s too early to have had that conversation yet. “I haven’t even opened that door right now. The most important thing is what’s going to make this documentary so unique,” he says. “We all know bits and pieces at the very least about Elvis, his career and his life and so forth. But that’s not enough. I’ve really got to get in behind the scenes and tell stories that people will be knocked out with.”

'Elvis For You (The Album That Never Was)'.

Back in June of 1964 The Elvis Monthly reported that this album was due at any time & also listed the 10 tracks that would be featured. This would contain the tracks from Loving You (which by then was deleted) + the added bonus songs Summer Kisses, Winter Tears & Flaming Star as the latter 2 songs had not yet been issued in the U.K.

Once again in 1964 The Elvis Monthly reported the release date unknown but possibly September or the latest October of that year (this never happened).

In the April of 1965 Albert Hand (The Elvis Monthly Editor / Owner) reported that he had received a demo copy of the RD 7586 album with another 2 added songs making it a 12 track album, the added 2 songs were Are You Lonesome Tonight & It’s Now Or Never.

On release the album was issued only this time it was as RD 7723 Flaming Star & Summer Kisses, also worth noting there was never an SF (stereo) version of this.

Later a Decca engineer had a few demo albums he wanted to sell, G.I Blues / 2 Single sided LP’s from Blue Hawaii and the RD 7586 Elvis For You.  Now you can enjoy the album that never was. It's the cd version of the album that never was. We hope you enjoy this anomaly.

Tracklisting: Flaming Star / Mean Woman Blues / Teddy Bear / Loving You / Got A Lot O’ Livin’ To Do / Summer Kisses, Winter Tears / Lonesome Cowboy / Hot Dog / Party / True Love

Bonus songs: Loving You – farm version 2 – master take 14 / Loving You – main version 2 – fast movie version take 11 / Got A Lot O’ Livin’ To Do – alternate master / Party – movie version – take 7 – alternate master / Flaming Star – take 5* / Summer Kisses, Winter Tears – take 15 & 16* / Summer Kisses, Winter Tears – take 19* / Flaming Star – take 3* / Black Star – take 5* / Flaming Star – mono version as featured on the Flaming Star & Summer Kisses LP.

Destined to be Released

Marlowe’s was the place to be tonight for the launch of a special first exition of Sally A. Hoedel’s new book ‘Destined To Fly - The Story of Pilot Ron Strauss'. Ron was Elvis’s pilot on the Lisa Marie.

Synopsis: Sally Hoedel, author of the book 'Destined To Die Young' announced the release of her second book, titled 'Destined to Fly'.

She posted on Facebook: I have some exciting news to share today. My second book, Destined to Fly: The Story of Pilot Ron Strauss – From Iowa to Elvis, has been submitted to the printer! As a writer, it’s a day of celebration that the work is complete and can soon be shared. As a friend, it’s a privilege to tell Ron’s life story, as I know it will inspire all of you as much as it has me.

Stories of a simple childhood in rural Iowa, twelve years of service in the United States Air Force during Vietnam, a hijacking as an airline pilot and flying Elvis Presley from tour to tour are all captured in this book. Ron’s story is one of bravery, patriotism, hard work, perseverance, love, family and flying.

The journey of this book began one year ago. I spent a week interviewing Ron at his home in Florida. It was clear from day one that there was a story there worth telling and it went far beyond his two years co-piloting the Lisa Marie. The months that followed included research and interviews, all with the full support of his family and friends. The most daunting day was sharing the first draft with Ron himself. Thankfully, he liked it.

For Elvis fans, this book offers new information not only about the airplane itself, but also provides a glimpse of Elvis Presley as a boss. A professional relationship was maintained with the crew of the Lisa Marie that was vastly different from others around him. Destined to Fly will also become a resource for fans as it features incredible documentation, including never-before-seen photographs and a complete flight log detailing Elvis’ tour and travel schedule aboard the Lisa Marie.

Review Elvis Presley The King and The Colonel LP

Hopping on the bandwagon of the ‘ELVIS’ movie, the German based ‘Magic of Vinyl record label released the LP ‘Elvis Presley The King and Colonel Parker’, subtitled ‘From Trailer Park To Graceland’.

Design

The LP fits in a series of splattered / colored vinyl releases from the Magic on Vinyl and other sub-labels from the German Power Station company. The splattered vinyl is a good choice as Elvis made a smashing impression on the music and American (youth) culture in the fifties, “smashing” everything kids and their parents though was “popular music”.

The 180 Gr. vinyl comes housed in a quality sleeve with a picture from the ‘’68 Comeback Special’ with a watercolor effect. The picture is an odd choice as the title refers to ‘Elvis and The Colonel’ and the music on this album pre-dates the special. A picture of Elvis and The Colonel would have been a better choice.

The liner-notes tell the story of Colonel Tom Parker and his management of Elvis Presley (and his own interests). The text is based on Colonel Parker’s Wikipedia page, but with proper credit.

The quality of the vinyl is good, it is nice flat and I didn’t hear any cracks.

Content

On this set we get an entertaining compilation of 19 greatest hits. Three SUN recordings, including ‘That’s All Right’ and ‘Baby, Let’s Play House', pre-dating the cooperation between Elvis and The Colonel, but the material that caught the latter’s attention.

The remaining 16 songs are ‘RCA’ classics recorded in the fifties and sixties. These include his “smash” breakthrough hit ‘Heartbreak Hotel’ and early hit-singles like ‘Hound Dog’, Don’t Be Cruel’ ‘It’s Now Or Never’, Return To Sender’ and closing with ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’.

Although all well-known, you can’t say that this Public Domain compilation LP contains one bad song. And after all, these songs helped Elvis to grow from “rags to riches” and move from “trailer to Graceland” (although Elvis never lived in a trailer).

Conclusion

This LP is a nice novelty record with a varied and entertaining compilation, but noting any fan doesn't already have in his or her collection. The splattered vinyl, nicely presented on top of the front-cover, may draw the attention of the casual Elvis buyer.

If the goal was to link this release to the 2022 ‘ELVIS’ biopic, I would have made some other (design) choices to emphasize the connection.

August 12 - A Vintage Press-release

RCA / Legacy officially announced the 50th Anniversary release of 'Elvis On Tour'.

Publicity stated: RCA/Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release the Elvis On Tour box set, a newly-compiled 50th anniversary celebration of Presley's monumental 1972 concert trek (premiering unreleased live and studio material), on Friday, December 2.

Fans can get their first taste of Elvis On Tour when the previously unreleased "Burning Love (Rehearsal 2)," recorded live at RCA Recording Studios in Hollywood in March 1972, was already released.

A seven-disc set, with the audio selections available in digital and physical configurations, the Elvis On Tour box set includes six audio discs (premiering previously unreleased Elvis concert performances and studio rehearsals) and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Blu-ray edition of the MGM Film, "Elvis On Tour," winner of Best Documentary Film at the 30th Golden Globes Awards in 1973 and the last feature film starring Elvis Presley to be released during the artist's lifetime.

RCA/Legacy's Elvis On Tour box set is produced by Ernst Mikael Jørgensen and mixed by Grammy Award®-winning Memphis-based producer Matt Ross-Spang. The original recordings were made by Felton Jarvis and Al Pachucki.

Disc 1 was recorded live on April 9, 1972, at Hampton Roads Coliseum, Hampton, Virginia, and contains all previously unreleased material.

Disc 2 was recorded live on April 10, 1972, at Richmond Coliseum, Richmond, Virginia, and contains all previously unreleased material.

Disc 3 was recorded live on April 14, 1972, at Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, North Carolina, and contains all previously unreleased material.

Disc 4 was recorded live on April 18, 1972, at Convention Center Arena, San Antonio, Texas, and includes previously released material (from 2003's Elvis: Close-Up box set), remixed for this release.

Disc 5 features the tour rehearsals, recorded live at RCA Recording Studios in Hollywood, California, on March 30 and 31, 1972. The disc is comprised primarily of previously unreleased tracks in addition to performances previously available on the official Elvis Presley collector's releases Elvis On Tour - The Rehearsals (Follow That Dream CD 2004) and 6363 Sunset Boulevard(Follow That Dream CD 2001) as well as The Great Performances (RCA 1990).

Disc 6 completes Elvis' rehearsals with his band at RCA Recordings Studios with performances recorded March 31, 1972. The disc includes previously unreleased takes on Kris Kristofferson's "For The Good Times" as well as performances previously available only on 6363 Sunset Boulevard, Elvis On Tour - The Rehearsals and Amazing Grace (RCA 2CD 1994).

As Elvis Presley’s national tour played to sold-out secondary markets across the country in 1972, Elvis was enjoying himself on-stage and finding electrifying new ways of connecting to audiences at every show. Working with a band and set lists of his choosing, Elvis was channeling the music he loved most--from pop and gospel and traditional country to blues and rock and contemporary hits--while transforming his own greatest hits with fresh arrangements, turning nostalgia into an unforgettable concert experience packed with immediacy.

Award-winning filmmakers Pierre Adidge and Robert Abel (Mad Dogs & Englishmen) went on the road with Elvis Presley and his band with all-access passes, cameras and crew to chronicle the King of Rock & Roll at his on-stage peak in MGM’s Elvis On Tour documentary film. The film captures Elvis, the human being driving the myth, behind-the-scenes backstage with his eyes open and his defenses down.  According to MGM's original press release, the Elvis On Tour film "offers the first intimate look at the enigmatic country boy who became the world's most celebrated musician."  Both documentary and concert film, Elvis On Tourfeatures montage sequences supervised by Martin Scorsese. The film was released on November 1, 1972.

The Elvis On Tour box set includes fascinating behind-the-scenes liner notes by Jerry Schilling, a longtime personal friend and member of Elvis' inner circle.

The set also features an illuminating essay by rock historian/musician Warren Zanes, founding member of The Del Fuegos and Professor at New York University. According to Zanes: "The set lists and the performances of the Elvis On Tour period bring a rare thing: a fifties legend working in the early seventies who was still taking his audiences to new places....The core band, including Ronnie Tutt, James Burton, Glen D. Hardin, Jerry Scheff, John Wilkinson, Charlie Hodge, the Sweet Inspirations, J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet, and an orchestra led by Joe Guercio, had gotten to a place at which Elvis could inject spontaneity, allowing the arena shows to have a measure of the unexpected.... 1972 was a year of one-hundred-sixty-five performances. In Jorgensen's words, it was a 'climax of his career.' While the '68 Comeback Special marked the significant point at which Presley returned to live performance, 1972 was the year in which the artist revealed most completely what he wanted to do with the creative energy such a return kicked off."

A definitive portrait of the artist in 1972, the Elvis On Tour box set arrives in the wake of the release of Warner Bros. Pictures’ epic big-screen drama, ELVIS, from filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, starring Austin Butler in the title role and Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis' longtime manager and technical advisor.

The RCA/Legacy Elvis On Tour box set includes the songs:

See See Rider • I Got A Woman / Amen • Never Been To Spain •You Gave Me A Mountain • Until It's Time For You To Go • Polk Salad Annie •Love Me • All Shook Up • (Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear / Don't Be Cruel •Are You Lonesome Tonight? • I Can't Stop Loving You • Hound Dog •Bridge Over Troubled Water • Suspicious Minds • For The Good Times • An American Trilogy • Love Me Tender • A Big Hunk O' Love • How Great Thou Art • Sweet, Sweet Spirit (Performed by The Stamps) •Lawdy, Miss Clawdy • Can't Help Falling In Love • Proud Mary •Heartbreak Hotel • It's Over • Funny How Time Slips Away • Burning Love •Release Me (And Let Me Love Again) • Johnny B. Review Elvis The Dream Project

This album was originally announced early 2021 as a violet colored LP but later postponed. Some dreams do come true as we now have the – expanded – CD edition and the producers announced that the LP should be available in the second half of 2022.

“What if Elvis would have recorded a follow-up album to his successful ‘On Stage’ LP?” That was the goal the producers of this new album set for themselves. They tried to answer that question by creating their own dream project.

For us fans the question is if this release is a fans’ dream come true?

Design

The producers tried to recreate a mid-seventies Elvis album. For the design they used a fitting 1974 picture of our man wearing a black karate suit and for his name typography taken from an advertisement for the RCA release ‘A Legendary Performer’.

Inside the six-panel digipack the design is simple with several full-size pictures and some hard-to-read liner notes.  Please use a bigger font and print the text in white.

Content

To realize their dream the producers of this set selected 19 live performances to create a mid-seventies concert experience. Using the Digitally Extracted Stereo technique (DES) they isolated Elvis voice from various live soundboard recordings (1972 to 1975) and mixed that voice-track with professionally recorded backing tracks. The producers selected backing tracks created with real instruments, created by ‘EP Tracks’ (Elvis’ originals like Glenn D. Harding and Charlie McCoy play on their tracks) And others.

There will always be a debate between fans who want to stick to the originals and those who are open for a new approach to those recordings. The overdubbing isn’t new, and was common practice on Elvis’ releases too, going back as far as the sixties. Many of the releases we know by heart and which are part of how we know and appreciate Elvis are overdubbed. The recent undubbed Nashville sets nicely illustrate the differences between what was recorded in the studio and what was released on vinyl and (8-track) tapes back in the day. Exactly the “sound” we know as our standard Elvis.

Ever since Elvis died RCA and other record companies tried to create new experiences: Felton Jarvis seemed to overdub or “sugarcoat” almost every Elvis release and he reworked 'Elvis In Concert’ to the live experience we k now so well. In the eighties we got the albums 'Guitar Man' and 'I Was The One' and in this century we got overdubbed Hayride recordings on 'Roots Revolution', ballads on ‘The New Sessions’, a classical approach in the cooperation with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, “new gospels” on ‘Where No One Stands Alone’ and even Baz Luhrmann reworked many classics for the ‘ELVIS’ movie soundtrack.

Some with a better result than others. The difference here is that the producers combined studio backings with Elvis voice, taken from live soundboard recordings.

Listening to this CD I must say that the producers (re)created an ‘On Stage’ listening experience connecting all songs through intelligently placed talking bits between the songs. As for those songs themselves, you can hear the producers didn’t simply cut-and-paste Elvis voice to new instrumentals. The stereo-mix is very good, something that can’t be achieved by using just DES-extracted elements.

For starters, some of the “previews” making the rounds on the world wide web are not what you hear on this album. So don’t be fooled, find the correct previews as shared through the FECC site:

I know some fans will dissect this album and identify where all the bits and pieces originate from but doing so they may miss out on the intention behind this “dream project” (spoiler alert: start with your FTD collection). It is like watching the new ‘ELVIS’ biopic you may put your note-book aside and simply try to enjoy this project for what it is without comparing it to the originals.

Listening to the songs, the 1974 sound really good. The ‘EP Tracks’ re-created Elvis’ August 1974 concert (released by FTD as ‘Nevada Nights‘) and they did a good job. This new backing sound gives the performances some more punch, add some instruments a bit better in the mix, like the violins, but stay close to the original live performances.

‘If You Talk In Your Sleep’, It’s Midnight and ‘And I love you So’ sound familiar, ‘My Boy’ is an entertaining highlight on this CD and so is ‘Good Time Charlie Got The Blues’.

‘Polk Salad Annie’ rocks like the original, but I miss the “dirty” sound of the live performance, the backing is a bit too clean. ‘Promised Land’ and ‘Trouble’ don’t come close to the originals. Here the match between the studio backing and live recorded voice-track don’t work for me. Especially the latter sounds too electronically for my taste.

To create an authentic the producers also added some original RCA tracks: ‘And I Love You So’, ‘Burning Love’ (listening to it in this context, the you hear that band is mainly positioned to the right, never noticed that so strong, but great to hear Ronnie Tutt beating those drums on this set too!) and ‘Hound Dog’. ‘Little Darling’ is original too, and added as a silly song, but this doesn’t work for me as a song as well as due to the lower audio quality of this track.

‘It’s impossible’ opens strong, but then Elvis blew it. “Start the sun of a bitch over” he says, ruining the song. On ‘Proud Mary’ the bass is too prominent in the mix, pushing Elvis to the back. Still it’s nice to hear all the elements from an Elvis live performance in this new mix, it show the work put into this release.

‘Down In The Alley’ is an underestimated song which you don’t see too often, great the producers selected it. The backing is a bit modern, but the performance stands. It gives you the feeling you’re listening to a recording from a small venue. ‘You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling’ made me think of the ‘Top Gun Maverick’ performance of this song, entertaining, but not entirely as it should be. I prefer the original here.

‘Little Darlin’’ is nothing more than a gimmick, it actually takes the flow away from the album and ‘Big Boss Man’ sounds too modern / electronically for me, especially the drums which are mixed too up-front in the mix. The album closes with a good version of ‘You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me’, one of my personal favorites.

Conclusion

Is it a dream come true for Elvis fans? That’s probably a matter of taste, but the new backing will certainly make these songs sound very good on modern (car) audio systems thanks to the extra punch it gives these classics. Mixed together, using small talking bits by our man, the producers created a complete and entertaining - stereo - experience with their selection of hits and classics. I’m not 100% sure if a follow-up to ‘On Stage’ would sound like this, but listening to this album you hear the producers really made an effort to create a new sound.

This album is more than a simple mono to stereo with a “karaoke” backing track, this mix shows real craftmanship. The new sound may not be everyone’s cup of tea but I can appreciate the ambition to chase your dream and create something new and different.
